I reckon if a feller wants to trade a load of firewood for a box of food to eat, that would be something our govt could keep their nose out of. Roadkill, if you want some deer meat, we have some left from last year. Some of it is cut up and vacuum sealed from brothers in hanceville and some of it is a variety of specialty meats from weavers in faulkville. Its been in my deep freezer since I got it home, we just overdid it a bit last year and couldnt eat it all. If you want a box of it just come get it, you can have it. Free of charge. Surely thats legal.

Straight up gangstas trading a deer hunt or some meat for firewood. God have mercy on these criminals.

No comment on whether laws designed for market hunters deserved consideration today.

But this is illegal based on the laws on the books. I know someone who has gotten a ticket for something similar.

Trading a hunt is fine. Trading meat, the law is pretty clear.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Gifts are fine as long as they are labeled. Hunter, license number address, date of kill and what was gifted.

As far as one leaving a truck load of fire wood and some one driving off with a quartered deer. We'll, I can't speak to that.

Surely after the last few weeks everyone has learned the meaning of Quid Pro Quo? It would depend on "the meeting of the minds". or did they have an understanding or an expectation?

That is really a good question about a very fine point of this. I dealt with it when police officers were offered free meals. Not unethical in itself, but the question becomes, is there and expectation for something in return?

I really enjoy studying ethical questions.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Actually I knew about it but didn't even occur to me in this case. It would seriously take a giant asshole GW to write you up for that.
But I tell you what, just offer the firewood free, to anyone who would like to donate some deer meat.

This ^^^^^^^^^.

I'd judge roadkill from the past post and observations to be a man who just wanted some meat for the family, and is a hard working man who doesn't want something for nothing.

Thank you and that about sums it up - plus I have a butt load of firewood and am just about out of deer. Just cut down two large red oaks this morning. I'm always cleaning up trees for neighbors and such.
