Kicking around today in the back woods off the Flint River. Found several promising areas. Going back tomorrow. Beautiful area.

looking south - mountain ahead is across the Tennessee River

Pulled up in side creek to hunt. Beaver dam had it blocked. Rifle is a .45cal double trigger hawken. Black pack in canoe is waterproof complete survival set up - tent/clothes/sleeping bag/food/water/ect. Always goes when I get out on the water.

That bag in the front looks like you found some dope in the river:)

Thanks - Its a shooter but have to be careful wearing gloves. I have the trigger set at 3 lbs. I like double triggers. Have a 8mm Mauser that has them. last week I had fired it about thirty rounds and then switched to a single trigger rifle. I fired three shots before I got my head straight that I couldn't set the trigger on it.

What part of the flint river are you allowed to hunt? What public land is it a part of?

There is none, he's being an outlaw, don't try to replicate.

Yeah, hope you like company roadkill. Never understood why people do this. They do it with fishing spots too.

Funny thing is, I know exactly the area you are hunting. I've done the same thing as you in there on several occasions. There's some good hunting in there, especially when you figure out deer movement caused by orange hats. Good duck hunting in there, too, during the week M-F.

I just moved to the area and brought my kayak up last weekend. Been looking it over on Google earth and can't wait to get out on the water soon and do some scouting.

Chill out I’m not coming to hunt your precious land, I honestly didn’t know there was any public land around there... still don’t see it

Exactly. It already gets pounded by people. Especially the land owners.

Half the hunt is being outdoors other half is fulfilling your goals...looks like good times regardless...good luck

I'm 68. Have been kayaking and canoeing the local areas around here for forty or more years. I couldn't care less if I ever killed another deer. In fact this might be my last year. Truly love to eat them, but its still killing and any hunter knows they don't die easy. As long as I can do it I'll get out in the creeks, rivers, backwaters, Tennessee River in a kayak or canoe and enjoy the beauty of this area. As mentioned, TVA is public land. Anyone should have the ability to quickly figure out where it is. I can do it so its not difficult.
And unless the good folks that own and moderate this website suggest otherwise I'll occasionally take a few photos and share them here in the thought that some one who can't get out and see it themselves will hopefully enjoy my experience. Y'all take care.

shoot yeah, aint nothing better than floating down the river blowing away deer on both sides of the canoe. It seems like it would be hard to paddle back though.
