I thought they renegotiated the boy out after last season?

I believe that was the attempt but it didn't happen. Still is 75 percent of the remaining contract if AU fires him, from what I understand.

Sure enough. I’ve learned this with age. Having 2 kids over the last two years helped me realize the more important things anyways.

Charlie Trottman on his show today indicated from his sources that Malzahn’s future at AU has already been decided no matter the outcome of the Bama game. But he wouldn’t say which way.

He's right. Gus will be staying at auburn...unless he chooses to leave on his own for another job. He will not be fired.

If you are deciding on whether or not to fire the bum based upon the outcome of one game, you don't understand the real issues, and there are MANY issues with Gus. Gus has not demonstrated the ability to bring this program back to a championship level, and that's what he gets paid 7 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to do. He must be shown the door if logical people are making the decision. Problem is, people with oversized egos are wrestling for position as the top dog on the board, and a lot more than the fate of the football coach is in play.

That about sums it up. Gus shot himself in the foot from the end of last season to the beginning of this season harping on he was taking over the offense. I haven't heard that mentioned lately. Also, while his body of work is enough reason to fire him, I think a catastrophic loss to Bama this year would be "the straw that broke the camel's back."

This will sort of be one of those “they said” things but the son of my mother’s first cousin works for AU. I’m not going to name his position because I don’t want it to get back that he told something that he shouldn’t, but he told his mother just before the season that this was Malzahn’s last year. Funding for all “football associated” programs had been reduced to save the money to pay his buyout. I’m guessing that means marching band, cheerleaders, etc.... not sure what all it encompasses. I guess we’ll see soon if he was correct.

Well, the budget was cut for other depts.

That is a fact. I don’t think it was related to the buyout though.

If the door was ever open for him to beat bama, this is his shot! Tua out and a porous defense. If he can't get it done this year he never will. I think he has a team that can beat bama but he won't pull it off.

He may survive, but it won’t be because of the buyout.

That's what I heard this morning as well. Apparently Jimmy Sexton has been working behind the scenes.
