I'd bet a dollar that over 50% of deer hunters don't pull the trigger before season. They just wing it. After what I saw Saturday, having a tracking dog is the business to be in because you could have as much work as you want to have.

I'd bet a dollar that over 50% of deer hunters don't pull the trigger before season. They just wing it. Every one that I hunt with is like that they will hunt Saturday morning with out knowing wether or not their gun is on. Some of them will come back at lunch and shoot a few times but not all. I’m going to camp early Friday morning going to get everything unloaded and shoot my rifle a few times. And then I may and try to get an evening bow hunt in.

if you're anywhere near Huntsville it's worth the small charge to go to Bullet and Barrel. They have shooting rests inside so you don't have to lug yours from home, they have a 100 yard range (indoors) and a laser target set up at the end of it that calculates your exact grouping and adjustment. Luckily my rifle hasn't moved in 5+ years but my sons had to have a scope mounted on it so it took me all of 6 minutes to get dialed in there. Really good folks there as well. Jerrel the head gun smith is a terrific guy and former LEO. George the range master of the 100 yard is as good as they come as well. Would recommend them to anyone. Totally agree. Great folks, nice facility, good ranges, quality work and they have ice cream, too. The simulator is pretty fun, too.

Glad to have my own place to shoot, when we lived in Auburn I would go to Tuskegee National Forest range and man it was a circus. Watched on of Auburn’s footballers talking on the phone shooting a pump pistol grip 12 gauge nearly blow is hand off. My brother and I spent many a day out there. It wasn't that bad back in the late 90's.

It is funny to watch someone who thinks they can shoot not hit a barn and then get mad at the gun LOL long time ago -- on this same range that Gomer went to -- i had a friend ask me to meet him to sight in a rifle he just got ... turned out to be a *nice* Browning .270 w/a Leupold scope; upon seeing it, i couldn't wait to shoot it ... took me 3 shots to get it driving tacks ... hand it over to him, and he sprays bullets all over the paper i'm watching him shoot the whole time, and *RIGHT* before he'd squeeze the trigger, he'd yank it ... after several shots, he tells me, "man, this gun is off" ... he had plenty of bullets & plenty of money (at the time) so i said, "Ok, let me see it real quick" ... put it back down on the bags, and fire basically at the exact same spot -- 3 times in a row -- as i had before i handed the gun to him ... handed it back & said, "Jeff, this gun is spot-on, lights out; look at where my shots are; exactly the same place as before, bud!" ... some people are poor rifle shots ...

How much does it cost to go to the cahaba gun range? Do I need to bring my own target stands? Just moved out to alabaster and wanted to try the range tomorrow- hoping to avoid the crowds. Any info is appreciated! Thanks! Trey PM sent Dubie Just need a hunting, fishing, or heritage license and they’ll want your conservation ID at the shack

It never fails that some dipshit will be fooling with their rifle and/or looking thru their scope while you are downrange placing or checking targets. Ive seen dumbasses still shooting at 100 while someone is placing a .22 target at 25. If you want to see the type of people that really shouldnt have access to guns with out some type of extensive training go to a public gun range. I thankfully have some really large gravel pits to shoot in on my families land. I did meet a buddy of mine at the Marengo County shooting range one time to help him sight in a rifle. After finishing with his gun he had to go and I stayed behind to shoot one of my guns. This guy drives up and sets up shop about 2 tables over from me. So help me he was literally hammering the bolt down on his rifle with a hammer to get it to fully close on a round. I quickly gathered up my s##t and got the hell out of dodge before I ended up having to sling him in my truck and drive him to the hospital with his hand and half his face gone. I'll just stick to my gravel pits. LOL!
