I was able to sneak away for a weekend. Y’all tell me where to catch some fish. I’m planning to launch at Browns Creek

Guntersville

I’d check the coves. They were busting bait in them Sunday afternoon but they were finicky about biting.
Really nice size white bass were busting bait too.
Baits I’d be prepared to use:
Alabama rig
Rat L Trap
Squarebill
Finesse swimbait
Spinnerbait
Guy in a boat near me couldn’t get em to bite any of that. Threw a Ned rig and caught on 3 or 4 straight casts.
They’re catching crappie under the bridges too in jugs and minnows.

Never caught a crappie on a jug but it could be interesting... laugh

I wish I knew how to post a video. The amount of bait in eelgrass at the ramp last night was amazing.

Nope. Caught one crappie and 4 yellow bass. I do not like to bridge fish but did reluctantly pull under the bridge after 2 hours of only a couple of yellow bass. I could see crappie stacked up from 4'-15' deep on my Livescope. I think a safe guess would be 500-600 fish in one cone width on the LS. Couldn't make them bite. There is no current so I don't know if that's what it is or what.

A jigging spoon would have got them in the boat. I know thats not the answer you were wanting to hear. There might be fishermen on here who would throw a crappie back if it was foul hooked, im not one of them. I have never bit into a crappie filet and said "that one taste funny, it must be one of them we foul hooked".

No snagging law on the tennessee river. But jigging a jigging spoon is business as usual. Im not saying to go out and intentionally try to snag fish either, but if it happens, I aint throwing them back. Crappie will bite a jigging spoon.

We wound up jigging spoons around the bridge on the 69 causeway, and quit counting at 80.

It was a mixture of decent sized white bass and few stripes mixed in.

Even caught a couple catfish.

We initially had planned to catch some crappie, and bought minnows, but couldn't get them to bite either.

Sometimes if a jigging spoon is working you can rig a minnow on a threeway swivel and bump bottom and do some good
