I've got a old Simmons 44mag I'd put on any rifle and trust it .
Most of my rifles are toting nikons 3x9x50 or 3x9x40 they'll do any thing I need during legal light and past I think those old Simmons were made in Japan. They were a heck of a value. The new ones not so much. Seems like I've had it 35 or 40 years . It's been on a few different rifles and we'll used . Lol

For me it is the Zeiss Conquest. Even if it is discontinued.
The old Zeiss Conquests that had lenses made by Meopta, mechanical components made by Zeiss, MC coatings on the lenses and were being assembled in the USA were a hell of a scope for the price. There was a time you could get them for around 400 bucks. I still kick myself for not buying more of them back then.

After they were discontinued, Eurooptic had a special run of these scopes made by Meopta. These scopes had good clarity and lowlight performance and a reticle that was heavy enough to see in lowlight unlike the Leupold VX3 scopes. You had to spend at least twice as much to get more scope, which is why I think its the best value scope ever.

I have 3 VXIII with heavy duplex and my son has two , I doubt the reticle in the Conquest is heavier than those.

After several failures with an old Simmons I walked into Mobile Shooting Center, circa 1998, and told them I was looking for a Rolex. They didn’t take me to the Diavari but the Conquest MC. That scope still rides my boat paddle Ruger M77 30-06. It’s the only go-to combo I have when failure is not an option.

It has heavy outer bars like the Leupold HD but the inner crosshairs are thinner, which I prefer. I have a Leupold VX III 1.75x6 with the HD, and its good but I prefer the Zeiss duplex.

Meopta, Leica, Zeiss,Trijicon accupoint All excellent products but I'd add Burris to the list. My Burris and Meopta scopes are my favorites.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

You had to spend at least twice as much to get more scope, which is why I think its the best value scope ever. Zeiss Conquest was the best scope value.......ever. I have a 1/2 dozen of em. I once compared a Conquest and an older VariXIII, side by side, both on sand bags, looking through both scopes every couple of minutes beginning at 5:00 pm. Both were similarly clear and bright, I lost the reticle in the Leupold several minutes before the Zeiss. Leupold went back for a reticle change to heavy duplex. The rifle the Leupold was on went from a 5/8"s gun to well over an inch with the new reticle. It was too heavy in the middle covering too much of the target at the range. The Z-plex reticle is about perfect for me, thick on the edges, thinner in the middle.
