Anybody have one of these and how do you like them?
Looking at getting a 22 mag semi auto.

I got the a22 mag semi...i had to send it back to savage for ejection issues right off the bat but it's been good ever since. I've killed a lot of turtles with it and several beavers I'll hang on to it. I went with 22mag for a lil killing power but 17 does better at longer distance I usually don't shoot past 125yards. Ill use a 308 for yotes

I have an a17. I had to send it back to savage for ejection problems, feed problems, trigger problems, safety problems, magazine falling out. They replaced the stock, and trigger mechanism and did some other things I don't remember what all. It worked for a while it is now jamming again. Spend your money on something else. That is unless you want to buy mine.

.17 and .22 mag do not work well in a semiauto. Savage claimed to have found the answer to the problems, with the delayed blowback system, but it is a miserable fail. Stick with bolt or lever action.

I bought my grandad a ruger American 17 and it had ejection issues and it's a bolt action??? He ended up trading it in for a Browning t bolt 17and that's one sweet lil gun.

If I ever replace it I think I will go with a .22 mag. I bought it largely for rabbits. And the tiny hollow point bullets that are available for it blow up on contact creating a mess when you clean one. Also lacking the penetration of the .22 for larger critters such as yotes or if you happen up on a hog.

The 512 American is what I have. It will put them in a group about the size of my thumbnail @100 yards. The trigger sucks, but it can be improved upon. Really a nice little rifle.

The newer a17s and 22s supposedly are not jamming I'm in same boat I want one but from some of the reviews the earlier ones were problematic I've heard if you use the cci a17 ammo the 17 shouldn't jam still a neat concept to have a 17 or 22 mag in semi auto wish ruger would step up and make a 10/22 in either caliber
