I have some land in Lee county where someone many years ago piled rocks like that up for a terrace and i assumed they did so to keep from breaking plow points

Looks a lot like an old chimney base. When we hunted in Barbour county there were a LOT of piles of rocks similar to that from farmers cleaning out their fields and piling them out of the way.
The photo with the rifle in it could be an old storm pit or even a root cellar for storing food.

Awesome story.......

Well sethjamtoe, sorry that I didn’t have the time to entertain you but I’m at work and just don’t have the time to tell bedtime stories. Run along and play and maybe tonight I’ll find time to write you a story.

Sweet! Thanks for taking me in to consideration!!!

There was what I can only guess was a well hole with a fairly substantial structure built around it and there were rotted out galvanized washtubs strewn all around, probably close to a dozen total. It’s all old enough that there’s no evidence of any wood structures, but new enough that concrete and metal wash tubs existed.

This is more than a mile walk from the closest road, but within sight of the water. Anyone ever stumbled across this themselves?

I've hunted Wheeler all over and have never seen this. Is in the vicinity of the I65 bridge?

No, it’s actually on the other side of wheeler, not too far from the arsenal. The water close by isn’t the Tennessee River proper, but some backwater of it.

Found something exactly like that in Perry co. public land but only half as tall.

Found what I assume was a logging mechanics tool box years ago. It was a big steel tool box that was left open and had a bunch of nice tools inside that were all rusted together forming one huge mass. Was so old there were several metal cans of oil or something by it that were rusted away to nothing. Wonder why he left it or forgot it?

That wouldn't happen to have been near Florida/Alabama line?

Here’s another Barbour Co rock chimney.

I would love to go back in time to see that thing in action...might never come back if given the choice.
