I had on 08 2wd with the 4.7, and the damn thing would get stuck in loose gravel.

I like the Hemi engine better, but have known several folks who had the 4.7 go over 200K with minimal issues.
Wife's Commander has the 4.7 and has been a great engine thus far. 160k, plenty of power to pull our 26' camper, but gets around 14mpgs these days on average city driving. It gets as low as 8 when pulling the camper and can get as high as 17 cruising on interstate.

I had a 4 door Ram truck as a rental on one of my business trips. It had the 4.7 engine in it. I was quite surprised at how much power and torque it had and how surprisingly good the fuel economy was. I think I got right at 24mpg for the whole trip. Calculated by me and also confirmed on the dash read-out.
Those engines "feel" more powerful than they are on paper, because they make a lot of torque down low in the RPM range. I remember watching a TV show where a guy was swapping a 4.7 into a Jeep and he said it was a great off-roading motor because of the low end torque.
