If I had an older Rem 760 pump 30-06, would it be reasonably plausible to have it rebarrelled/ rechambered into a .35 whelen? If so, how much would such an endeavor cost?

Definitely plausible. Cost of a barrel and maybe $150 for a gunsmith to install. Check with Harvey King in Valley Grande.

JES Reboring can turn the existing barrel into 35 whelen if the barrel has enough “meat”

7600 I had kicked fairly hard so expect the 35 whelen to kick more .

I rebarreled a savage axis II xp . Cost was about 250 total .

I think if the ole 06 was shooting fine I’d leave it be, unless you just wanna spend money. There is some gain by goin to the 35 whelen but these lil ole bammer deer won’t know the difference.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

I did that. Cheapest I could find when I did find one it 600 or more.

I started looking for a long action savage 110 to rebarrel but a deal came along and I just rebarreled a axis ii xp . I ended up with 650 in the set up scope and all brand new . Though I did buy a boyd thumb hole stock for it later
