For you guys that keep a camper at camp all season, what do you do about your black water tank? Do you just not use the camper bathroom, empty it in crap pot and clean out at dump station? I’m about to put a camper at my place completely off grid. I’ll have solar power and water pumped from lake or rainwater collection system. Right now I’m leaning towards just building an outhouse.

I don’t anymore but we bought some $75 portajons from that place in Birmingham and dug a 4ft hole under them. Every week we’d just dump a little lime in before we left

We plumbed the black tank into a septic tank. Just like we were camping somewhere.

Look up building a septic tank out of a 55 gallon drum.

That's a massive trench/hole. If I was going to dig one that big, I'd just get a real septic system put in.

This is exactly what we do at our current camp and it works fine about every other year we cover the hole and dig a new one.

Yeah, that's way overkill on the hole. Just needs to be slightly larger than drum. You can rent a large auger. We have one for every camper.

I have an excavator, so the hole is no problem. How many barrels do you put on each system? It will just be black water, gray water is not an issue.

In my opinion two tanks standing on end with some half moon fill line will work fine. If used a lot I would put a gravel pit at the end of the line. Be sure to stair step the barrels. The first one will hold the solid, then drain to the second, then the fill line.

Build a real septic or have a septic company come out every other month or so and pump out your black water tank . cheap and inviro friendly.

Works fine and good until the county figures out what you have done and then you are in some deep doodoo. Pun intended.

Get a Cleanwaste or PETT and some wag bags with no stink powder. Toilet is standard size and will hold 500 pounds or more. Just sit down and do your business then throw the bag in the garbage. Whether you need to go in a camper or a tent it works great. Bags are biodegradable. thumbup rofl

If it’s leased I wouldn’t do a septic without approval first. We showed up to a camp one day and all the 2 barrel systems were jerked out of the ground.

Check with your local septic companies as some have portable above ground septic tanks like they use on construction sites for the office trailers. A buddy of mine rents one every year and they come out and empty it and it passes all regulations, or it does where his lease is in Monroe County.

Plastic pickle barrel in the ground has been working for 15 years at a place that I've visited.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
