So after reading the map I guess we have to sign in and out everyday now. I hope they got a lot of those kiosks spread out cause that could cause a lot of driving on choccolocco.

Yea, screw em. I actually thought about riding up there for the early hunt. Haven't hunted up there in 20 years. The rut should be on at that time, but the heck with signing in and out.

The road I hunt a lot doesn't have a kiosk. Imagine that. This wma is large they need to have one at end of every road.

They've installed kiosks on every road on Perdido too, except the one close to the house so I still will have to drive 30 minutes out of the way to get a permit for a gun hunt, if they issue daily permits for gun hunts from these kiosks. We don't have to get a daily permit here for bow hunts.....yet.

I scouted last weekend and filled one out..gotta time in and time back out..2 part permit, one you drop in a box before you hunt..another piece you hold on to while hunting and drop it off in the box when you leave..it aint that bad but if you get off somewhere away from the kiosks..you gonna have to find one somewhere an time back out...i dont like it one bit..but ive done heard it said it will be strictly enforced and you will get "hefty" ticket if you dont comply...thats comin from the biologist at skyline.

Wait, you physically have to sign in and put a slip of paper in a box when you enter the WMA and then sign out and do it again when you leave?

Guess my days of hunting WMAs are over if this is true.

Forty years, starting on Swan Creek and hunting several in the state. Won't do it again. Won't buy another WMA permit. The continued implementation of more laws, regulations and rules will do nothing but drive people away.

I have a permit in my truck ill try to post a pic in a little bit...there is a top and bottom..fill out the top which includes the time you start and a bottom part you hold onto...you have to have it signed and filled out on your person at all times while actively using the wma...i wrote in scouting on the other line where it asks what game you will be hunting which you can mark as manh as apply..not sure if i had to have one to scout but i was there and id rather had it than not...thing that im confused about is each permit has a number..matching on top and bottom part like a raffle ticket...so my question is ...do i need to make sure i put the bottom in the same kiosk box as i put the top..or does it matter? If you do...then youll have to drive all the way back to where ever you started and drop off the time out pirtion of the permit...confusing and aggravating.

Welp, guess I'm done. Ain't doing that BS just to access public land my money has helped pay for for 40 years.

Anyone in Montgomery reading this, chalk up another loss. Claim that it's data-gathering or safety or whatever, but you now have one less hunter on your WMAs.

And folks scratch there head at why Hunter numbers are going down
The ability to pursue wildlife in season for the purpose of hunting should be alot more easy and available than what's it being made to be in this day and age

Could they not have done this electronically like the game check seems that would make more sense. It would accomplish the same thing but what do I know. It is a pain.

But.....data....we need more data.

On a serious note, it's been like that in Mississippi. They just made it to where you can use an app. It was way to much work/driving for me to fool with hunting a WMA.

Hollins has them. Gotta fill them out every day for every hunt type. We had to do them for dove.

Unless I'm mistaken, you even have to get it for small game hunting. But it isn't at every single WMA.

When Tennessee implemented the Native Tennesseean program, as someone who loves hunting public land and is blessed enough to be born in TN and live close to the line, it was the best thing that ever happened to me on the hunting front. I just can't deal with the Alabama WMA's any longer. Extremely frustrating on so many fronts and now even worse with that craziness.
