Buy no roll when beef/ribeye prices are down. They will throw more quality beef in the no roll box. Why pay to have it graded when it's cheap and the demand for choice/prime isn't there and flood the market even more. And always buy no roll over select cause you know you are getting at least select grade beef and it's cheaper per lb. U don't know that...they r lower grades of usda beef than select...i ain't saying u can't get a good no roll but your chancing it trust me This is just my experience with box beef from Ibp, National, Excel, and Greater Omaha. On average a 5 loin case will have a couple decent loins, a couple of good loins and 1 trash. That's the only way I've ever bought/sold ribeye outside of a grocery store that already has them cut to grade for yourself. I agree with this...and it may be worth it to buy a case and sort it out yourself...just not a single loin cuz chances r it might not be good

My local grocery sells choice ribeyes but also sells "utility ribeyes" for a lesser price. What in the Sam hell is a utility ribeye?

Utility, Cutter, and Canner What It Means: These remaining three grades won't be appearing on any labels at the store (would you buy something called âUtility Meat?â ). They are from older cattle with no marbling, and used for really cheap ground beef, processed meat products like hot dogs, even dog food.

Been hearing this commercial on the radio about a tent sale theyâre doing in Montgomery. Anyone ever bought these? I would assume the quality is terrible. I thought it may be worth it to get some and just grind it into burger if it was wasnât worth grilling. Yeah. That commercial is blowing up here. "Don't pay Omaha Steak prices!" Hard pass on this one. Dr. B

So what grade are you buying for the guys buying half a cow? Is it usda inspected? There are some small processors that have USDA inspection but the vast majority donât unless thatâs changed in the past decade. Most properly fed, proper age calves would grade out as Prime. Cutter grade stuff a lot of times is animals that are too old to grade better. I forget what age it is but maybe a calf has to be 16 months or younger to grade Prime. Has something to do with the ossification of bones or something like that to determine the age. Been too many years since my meat science classes at AU. A fat, adult killer cow or bull would likely have some Select grade beef. Cutter and Canner are rough tough stuff.

They're a little tough where the saddle used to sit. Went to Montgomery today and heard the commercial 100 times.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
