I’ve gotten to where I like a good cigar and a good bourbon. I’d have to say a Padron 7000 or a Perdomo 20th Anniversary have to be my favorite so far. So what do y’all like? And I’m not talking about a Swisher or Black and Mild. smile

Well guess I'm out since ya don't like the sweet smell of a Grape Swisher 🤣 But i guess I'm biased also, cause i hate those particular cigars that smell like pure CHIT 🤢

Many of the retired officers I work with enjoy them, but I've never really gotten there. I can enjoy a nice bourbon but not a cigar. A pipe? That's much different and I love those. Most of the time when I'm drinking, I'm not trying to enjoy the flavor but the destination. Ask 257.

My wife's grandad got me smoking cigars when I was 22 if only then I knew to appreciate more of what he had... they wasn't cheap....its been 2 years since I smoked one but Ashton cohiba and padron was the norm I'd smoke one or 2 a week...

Monte Cristo no.2

But I also like a good old fashioned swisher once in a while.

Most of the men I have met that smoke cigars are assholes. Swishers excepted.

My (at the time) brother in law and sister brought me some cigars from Jamaica. They were supposedly high end good cigars. I got drunk one night and smoked one of em. I guess it was good. For me to smoke anything I have to be hammereddrunk anyways. I'd still take a black and mild over that cigar though.....if I were looking for something to smoke when I was hammered.

That says more about who you associate with than it does cigars.

A well crafted, hand rolled cigar is a wonderful experience. All of the major makers that matter have origins in Cuba. I like Romeo E Julitta , Cohiba, and any number of makers that have high quality standards at all levels. I’ve had and have a few actual Cuban cigars. I just don’t see anything special about them. Actually seems a bit more unnecessarily harsh for my taste. Most any Cuban seeded tobacco from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Costa Rica, etc, will get you the good smoke. A cigar isn’t supposed to be like a cigarette/crack pipe. It’s supposed to be like a desert after a fine meal.

Grape Swishers and the like are just shitty pipe tobacco that’s been sprayed with bubble gum flavor. You can get good quality, hand rolled cigars online for about $2 per stick. One good cigar will last an afternoon, as opposed to a pack of Dollar General cigs lasting 4 hours for those that smoke them.

But yes, I smoke cigars, am I am an asshole of epic proportions.

I guess I'm kind of like cigars like I am with Wine, Beer and Booze... I have tried all kinds of high end stuff and have migrated to stuff that's not super expensive, but that tastes good to me.

I like to smoke cigars on the weekends on the back deck of the cabin or sitting around a fire or hanging out with our close group of friends up here. I don't smoke cigars everyday of the week or anything like that.

Right now the main cigars I have in my humidor are:

Free Cuba
John Bull
Padilla

The Free Cubas in the Corona size are some of my favorites not expensive, but just a good solid cigar. Kind of like Buffalo Trace Bourbon, not expensive, but taste good.

I probably have about 50 assorted cigars. My best friend and I place orders from Cigars International and usually split the bounty.

I am a cigar smoker of the non-asshole variety.

Padilla is good. Haven’t tried the others you mentioned but you obviously get the idea. If folks got their cigar experience from lighting bottle rockets off of them, it’s time they graduated middle school or stfu.

I like the oily/peppery maduros. The Foundation Cigar Co: Tabernacle Black/Blue label with Connecticut wrap is my favorite, but they have a good variety that I also like...Charter Oak is a good one on the cheaper end, The Wise Man (can’t pronounce translation), red label Tabernacle is good (Nicaragua seed stock).
Another good, mellow flavored one is Mombacho Liga Maestro.
Also, Ashton Symmetry, Alec Bradley, Padron 2000 and 6000 and Avo are some others i’ve enjoyed.

*eta: I can be an asshole when needed....it has nothing to do with the cigars*

I partake occasionally. I'm a Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon guy, usually in Toro. That's my go to cigar..... if I can't find one of those I'll go to my humidor where I have a stash of Cohiba's from Cuba. They're delicious. I also like Oliva Serie V. Of course annually I keep my name on the Pappy Van Winkle run that they aged in the bourbon barrels and get a box of those to pair with the Pappy Bourbon I keep if I'm lucky enough to find a bottle.
