Agreed. Likes to brag he never lost a case as a prosecutor but I never saw him do anything but ask a bunch of questions while he was in Congress. He'd shred people questioning them but then never do anything with the information obtained with regard to turning it over in the form of a criminal referral. Until I see him actually hammer someone on something, he's nothing but a waste of oxygen. We need people that will actually dig in and do something tangible in rooting out these swamp dwellers. There's already enough people pointing fingers and saying "look what they did".

Gowdy's own statement I am paraphrasing the years I spent in Congress was largely a waste of time. Congress his words is bogged down by ineffectiveness. I imagine when Gowdy roasted a few witnesses in a congressional hearing he made a name for himself as someone that would make changes. I also think that our government is so large it gets in its own way and is rife with corruption.

I mean, I get what everyone is saying about him...but seriously, what was he supposed to do? What did you all expect him to do? And I don't mean "be harder on those crooks". Besides questioning them, as a single member of congress, wasn't really much he could do.

That really isn't saying much. Most prosecutors never lose a case. The deck is stacked in their favor and cases they know they will lose, they dismiss prior to trial or offer such a great deal defendant's cant afford not to take it. Really, if a prosecutor is halfway good at their job, they shouldn't lose.

It kills me the ones who leave the prosecutors office to go into private practice and think they are hot shucks only to discover it isn't as easy when you aren't holding all the cards.

It's people like y'alls buddy Jeff Sessions and folks like Paul Ryan who kept Gowdy and every other Republican from being effective.

Think of what they could have accomplished if they had actually done something while they had control of both the Senate and House.

Think of why they didn't accomplish anything.

Gowdy was the lead in the Hillary corruption Benghazi hearings. He was there everyday and kept saying how he wanted to question Huma Abdein. The day the key witness , Huma Abdein , was scheduled to testify , where was Gowdy? Couldn't make it that day. He had a speaking engagement.

He was also one of the so called conservatives, that abandoned Cruz when Cruz stood on the Senate floor and called McConnell a liar for misleading the other conservatives so that he could push through reauthorization of the import export bank. Something most conservatives were against.

Gowdy was also one of the Republicans who asked Cruz not to make them vote on a bill to not fund any part of the government unless they voted to defund all of Obamacare. Gowdy and others were pissed because they wanted to continue the blank check funding of government but didn't want to defund Obamacare and voting on the Cruz/Lee bill would have exposed them as neo cons because everyone except Cruz and Lee said they wouldn't vote to defund Obamacare. They wanted Cruz to let it go so they wouldn't be on the record and be forced to answer to their constituents why they wouldn't defund it.

So what did I want Gowdy to do? I wanted him to honor his responsibilities and oath but I understand that isn't realistic. We shouldn't question or expect anything more than the status quo because one man can't change things so we should just try to understand when a Republican acts just like a Democrat.
