NOT a prime food source until late season or until the others are gone.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Ive killed several bucks with a stomach full of them, but we have alot of them around here and they tend to be on the side of a steep mountain where its pretty hard to hunt.

MBrock is correct... they're what we call "mountain oaks" and they are the least preferred of all the acorns that fall. Turkeys will eat them into the spring, but deer typically won't touch them unless it's a lean year.

Just a plain ol chestnut oak. I’ve never seen a swamp chestnut grow anywhere other than where it’s name implies.......in a swamp
