Well... I'm testing the free trial of Youtube TV running through a Roku device I just picked up at Walmart for $29. I'm watching the Auburn game and surfing the web and so far it's only buffered once and that was at the beginning and only for a couple of seconds.

Not bad for a place that didn't even have Ft. Payne city water until about 2 years ago.

My tech guru son told me to get Google Chromecast, because Youtube is a Google company, but we already have Roku devices at home, and I didn't want different types of devices. Youtube TV is not readily apparent on the Roku device, I had to find and install the app, but it's running pretty good now... Fingers crossed.

I must be doing something wrong. I can't find much to watch on Roku. Amazon Prime with Firestick but I have a Uverse password too.

Roku is a device. It is not sold for it's content, it is just a way to access a streaming service.

Well... Damn... The Auburn game just started buffering and it's been doing it for about 5 minutes now. Internet seems fine though...

Try the free trial of PsVue. You also need to run an Ethernet cable from the router to your roku.

Firestick, pay for sling/espn so I can watch bama, its $35/month. Ill drop the sling after football season. My wife pays the internet bill so she can sell stuff on ebay. So ill pay $35/month through football season then itll be free after that. To be honest though, I watch more local antenna tv than anything else.

Anyone using FUBO? I have looked at it but not tried yet. Wife likes the Hallmark channels and FUBO has them.

OK... So we've hod no more buffering issues. I'm really liking the format of of the YoutubeTV app. It's very intuitive and easy to use.

I recently started using HULU Live and have been impressed with it. $44.99/month and you get all the college football channels, local channels, and a lot of the popular channels you'd get with cable. I plan on cancelling it after football season because my wife and son don't need it. They watch youtube, amazon prime, and netflix. Gotta have my college football though!

Well... We've been running this set-up now for almost a month and no complaints. The internet does go down every rare once and a while, but so far it's been great. Considering that we came up here for so long and basically camped out in what is now my workshop with no power other than the solar I set up and no water other than what we collected off the roof, it seems sort of surreal now to have this fully functional, comfortable cabin with high speed internet and all the channels on the TV including movies on demand.

All my TVs have a Roku Express device (I think it costs $19 at Walmart). We are using Weiss Internet which is a ground based wireless internet and it comes from a tower on another mountain top about 15 miles away as the crow flies. I signed up for YouTubeTV, installed the app on the Roku devices and all of the works seamlessly.

A couple of things that I like about YouTube TV:

1. Ease of use. It's very intuitive to navigate whether you are wanting to stream live TV or watch something from their library on demand.
2. Speaking of on demand, you have an unlimited amount of storage space for shows or movies you want to record. For instance, last Saturday I came in to take a break and was scrolling through the channels and The Revenant was on. It was about 1/4 of the way through. I hit "Add to Library" and Monday night we ended up watching it together from start to finish and were able to fast forward through all the commercials. So if you see something that you missed the start of and you want to watch or it's not convenient to watch it now, you can add it to your library and watch in in its entirety later.
3. With a Roku you can delete all the apps on ti that you don't use so they aren't cluttering up your interface. It's makes it easier to navigate.

So now I pay $70 for internet at the cabin, $70 for internet at home and $50 for YouTube TV and we have it set up on 2 TV's at the cabin and 3 TV's at home. We "share" the YouTubeTV between the cabin and the house and can watch it on 3 devices simultaneously. The location is irrelevant. I have it on my laptop too, so anywhere I have an internet connection I could theoretically get all of those same channels.

I'm happy with the decision I made.
