I’d go on one of the private school fundraiser hunts before I’d go to SSL. Also the two David mentioned are better choices.

not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

The old Southern Sportsman lodge is in Sumter County and is now called Dream Lake Lodge

When did that happen?

I’m not 100% sure. I was at Dream Lake with customers in 2017. The old cabin in the back where everyone leaves guns and Camo had several Southern Sportsman Lodge signs on it. When I asked the guide he said it was the old Southern Sportsman Lodge.

Dream lake has nothing to do with southern sportsman as of 4 years ago. They are close in proximity. Southern sportsman use to be a jam up club 30-40 years ago. It’s still there as of 4 years ago when I moved from Livingston. As was actually a member a few years ago and it’s not near the quality of hunting it was back in its heyday. As far as the old cabin Ive never heard of it. Southern sportsman use to have a resturant that was open to the public 30 years or so back. Best ribs ever.

That’s why I asked. We were members there several years ago. We had a room in the lodge, but I knew nothing about the cabin. I knew Southern Sportsman was having trouble, but didn’t expect it to have gone that far.

If you are just wanting him to kill a deer and it doesn't matter if it's a doe or buck then you will probably be good according to the timing of the hunt, but if you are looking for him to have a decent opportunity at a good buck then I would look at taking him to a place in Texas or another state with better odds. The cost will be about the same,

Yes the Morgan Academy hunt would be a great option!

X10

Morgan, Lowdnes, Wilcox, Sumter, Gordo Band Boosters (been to that one twice, great people), Pickens, and one of the Montgomery area private schools have them as far as I know.

They will ALL be hit or miss depending on weather, time of year, luck, etc etc etc.

If you have the budget and want him to kill a mountable buck I'd do Texas ten times out of ten.

I know a guy in Pleasant Hill (same area as Beers and Watts) that doesn't run NEARLY as many folks through in a years time. pm me for his contact info if you want it. He will be much easier to book with after cotton harvest season.

That lowndes academy hunt will put you on better land than what the Southern Sportsman will in basically the same area.

He is too young for that hunt he’s 9. Registration shows you have to be 18.

X2 on a Texas hunt. Can be really affordable for a management buck.

I will look into it but at 9 yrs old I'm not sure if it would be a option.
