I have slow leak somewhere in my water line. The dial will make a complete revolution every 2 minutes, that to me is slow. I dug up the line in the yard at a point that I have repaired before but my line is buried about 3 feet down and the ground is so dry I can't get a fix on where it might be leaking. It is PVC and I think after making two repairs in three years it is time to replace the whole line. Does anyone have the number to a good plumber that works in the Alabaster area? I searched the forum and found Brett Reno but I could not find a number for him.

Thanks

Barr plumbing. I’ll pm you his number. Shaun works with me at Alabaster Fire and is a good guy, and someone you can trust.

I shut the water off going to the heater and then turned the mains back on and the sweep hand kept spinning. I suppose I could take the the covers off the elements and check those. The water heater is brand new and was installed this year.

I just had this problem. My whole house was replumbed 2 years ago. A rat had been gnawing on my water lines. There were two leaks and about 15 places almost all the way through.

I just had Plumb-Tech come to Alabaster yesterday. They had to open my septic tank and snake back to the house. $150 out the door. I thought that was a steal considering all they did. I also use Superior Plumbing but they weren’t available and I had a complete stoppage so I needed some one now.

I have a main shutoff valve but it is old and does not shut the water off completely. When I close the valve in the house the sweep hand speeds up but when it is opened with all of the appliances turned off it slows down. All of my toilets are in good working order, I checked them yesterday. I am going to pull the covers from the WH today to make sure there are no leaks from the elements. I wish I would have had the main shutoff in the house replaced when I had the chance, it would make troubleshooting easier.

You could cut off a meter and replace it (right where the water line enters the house. Then you would know if it is leaking in the yard or inside the house.

While I waited for the plumbers business to open I decided to dig a little further down the line. While I was digging I noticed the color of the dirt change. The dirt was lightly damp, now with the drought we have had I knew I was on to something so I turned the water back on and there was the leak. It was so small that it would have never made the top of the yard wet enough to locate it. Now I am going to call some plumbers to get an estimate on replacing the whole line. I am too old to dig 3 feet down to a water line. I had to lay on my stomach to repair the stupid thing.

Thanks for all of the help and suggestions
