Every time I step outside and feel this heat I remind myself I will be in MT in less than 2 months. We drew deer tags in the 703 unit. Anyone ever hunt the Area east of Miles city? Looks like we will be close to the N. Dakota line on what is mostly crop & Pasture land. We found access to a large ranch but I have noticed there is a lot of State land and BLM in the area. Anyone have any knowledge?

Whatever suits you just tickles me plum to death.

Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

Tag is good for either species. I passed some nice whitetails last couple trips to SD to hunt Mulies.
I wont pass this time on a big Midwestern whitetail if the opportunity is right.

Had to look the unit up to be sure. I've turkey hunted South of where you'll be but we were in the 704 and 705 units.

I’ve hunted Mulies 8 times about 50 miles due east of Miles City, near Baker MT, starting in 1998. The last time I hunted there was 2010. They had a tremendous die off of mulies due to severe winters there, and the whitetails were 95% wiped out by EHD. The antelope were 100% wiped out by the bad winters. In areas where we used to see 25-50 mulies a day, we’d see a couple of does and fawns. In five hard days of hunting dawn to dusk, I saw two shooter mulies- one on property we didn’t have permission to hunt and one while driving in our truck. Never saw a single antelope nor a single whitetail buck. With the high cost of non resident licenses, it just wasn’t worth it to return again. In the glory years of 1998- 2004, I’d get a 4 X 4 every year, my largest 29 1/8” spread. I’ll post a picture later

I used to live 100 miles north of there. Must have been som bad winters. I remember 40 below and 40 mph winds but still saw plenty of deer and antelope.

Hey Bud Medows Baker,MT. is the closest town to where we will be. From what I understand the herd is not what it use to be but back up to good numbers. I hope to never see much less feel -40 Dixiepatriot. Coldest wind chill ive been in was -13 up there and we slept in and stayed inside till lunch. Rest of the day was 90% in the truck.
