Back then it seems like you needed an 18 and a good GPA to get in the state schools.

I believe that 40% of my sons freshman class scored 30 or higher.

My daughter was 12 last year and was one of the 3 in her 7th grade picked to take it. Made a 17 and had never seen anything like that. High hopes for her!

The 25th percentile ACT score is 24, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 30. In other words, a 24 places you below average, while a 30 will move you up to above average. There's no absolute ACT requirement at Auburn, but they really want to see at least a 24 to have a chance at being considered.

I’m pretty sure that’s not the case anymore. I have a nephew at AU as a freshman and I think I remember him saying a 26 or 27 was required for acceptance. And yes a 30+ will get at least most of your tuition paid for at most colleges in state.

I would presume with the competition that more is better and your score will be weighed against the other incoming freshmen and/or "other" factors.
I don't see anywhere on Auburn's website where they directly address it.

Straight from AU's website under admissions:

What are the middle 50% GPA and test scores of entering freshmen?
The middle 50% profile for students enrolling Fall 2018 is:
ACT: 25-30

So, basically 25% score 24 or under, 50% score between 25 and 30, and 25% score 31 or above.

And I so want the see that darling daughter of yours marching in the Auburn band on Pat Dye Field. Luckily, with her scores AU will pick up most of the tab.

Oldest daughter started Bama this fall and made a 24. Got a few dollars in scholarship. My other daughter plans on going there and has a 28 and just took the ACT again. I think this year they spread the scholarship money out, than give it all to the top of the class

I got all y’all beat. I took the ACT with my eyes closed, drunk and didn’t miss a question. Got a perfect score.

That is a strong class. A 30 puts them in the 94 percentile nationally.

You've touched on a sore subject. All of us at our company are Bama grads, with one exception token Aubie. We used to get annual visits from the Bama Dean of the School of Engineering wanting $$$$. I think it finally sunk in to him how his message was insulting to us. They make no bones about it that they want (strongly prefer) out-of-state students with 30+ ACT scores. When we ask about the opportunities for in-state kids, we get blown off. They brag about all the new facilities, yet the student/teacher ratio has skyrocketed. (Easier to get the money to build buildings than to add to the head count.) In Mechanical Engineering, the enrollment has gone up by a factor of 5 from when I started, yet they only have 3 more professors than when I began.

The daughter of a co-worker is a HS senior and has been visiting engineering schools this last year. Other schools have really rolled out the red carpet, not for her personally, but for the groups she was with. They laugh when talking about the Bama visit, where they had to pay $10 to park and the gal who pointed out Bear's statue did know who it was. When asked who he was, the tour guide replied "I don't know. I think its some guy that used to coach here." Remember, this is from a Bama guy.

I'm a Bama grad too. They have certainly chased the money and I don't like it one bit. They have screwed the University, and the city of Tuscaloosa. In 30 years, Tuscaloosa will have a crapload of 30 year old apartments. Not good.

Remington270, no doubt about it. When Bama eventually returns to football mediocracy when Saban retires, the braintrust at UA probably gonna wish they paid a little more attention to the in-state student. The best marketing they do is nationwide on Saturday’s. Sad to say but I think that bubble will burst eventually.
