Black male FYI. Very sad, judging from his Facebook page he was a decent man. I wonder why anyone does that job these days.

I’ve talked to 2 people who know him and said he was a highly respected person on the force. This is just senseless

Cousette was as good of a man that you'd ever meet. He worked security in th ED at DCH and when he was there you knew he had your back. It's a damned shame his life was cut short today. Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends, he will be missed.

Worked with Cousette up until I retired earlier this year. He was a good officer and an even better man. A hard worker that will truly be missed.

To be a respectable society we mush regain our respect for LEO's. If this continues only anarchy is ahead. Are you willing to help any LEO you see in trouble? They need our support and our willingness to help them when they need it. Years ago in Texas a bystander drove by a fella on the interstate beating the hell out of a Texas Trooper with a pistol. He stopped and shot the perp with his deer rifle. The bystander's name was never released and the Officer recovered. Face it,we are in desperate times. God Bless our LEO's and America

Prayers for the officers family. RIP Officer

It wouldn’t bother me if the suspect “escaped” custody and turned up bloated in moody swamp.

Perch I hate to say it but you are right. The deputies who patrol around the house know if I see them out with someone I'm going to cruise by a couple of times until they give me a thumbs up. I have LEOs 6 anytime.

I remember talking with him when he helped direct traffic for us. He was from Pickens county also or lived there at one time.. He was definitely a good man. Prayers for his family

Sad what out country has come to. Obama and Holder started all this disrespect the LEO's stuff. It has gotten out of hand. Prayers for this gentleman's family. I heard from someone that knew him that he had a fiance' and 2 little girls, if I remember correctly. Tragic waste of life and yes, the perp who started the shootout should have never made it to jail alive.

Just hold tight. He hasn’t actually made it to jail yet. I have a good friend that’s on the force and had to stay in the hospital room with the thug last night. I was told the perp was hit 2x.

I know who you are talking about. Texas also denied him on his first application for a conceal carry license. He had shown a "propensity for violence" for performing the above action. Thankfully that decision was over rode by the head of the DPS dept who over sees cc permits.
