Bands that you weren’t a fan of and didn’t know that they could play. Like this one from The Cutting Crew.

Lost my virginity with that song playing in the background. It became "our song". The short version though.

Always considered Cinderella just another 80's hair band wearing ridiculous clothes and using 3 cans of Aquanet hairspray a day. Then I saw them opening for another band and despite how they look they could flat play.

I was more into pop and R & B in the eighties. I've really developed an
appreciation for the rock and metal of that time since everything since
1992 absolutely sucks eggs.

I saw them open for Bon Jovi back in 86-87 in Lexington KY. They had some good stuff. They fizzled out pretty fast

Yep, good music. The music today isn't as good or the radio stations dont play the good stuff as often as they should. I've played music on my Amazon app and listened to the popular hits of different decades. You would be amazed at the similarities of the beats and rhythms of the good songs throughout the decades. Lyrics can be a little meh but the tunes are all good.

It be's that way sometimes.

Eighties music didn't have to actually be good. I mean it didn't have to be played well by good bands. It only had to have a catchy beat and be fun. It didn't have to be profound. It didn't need to be political. It didn't even have to tell a story. A big part of it wasn't even decently poetic. But it was catchy, and it was fun. Eg.

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.

You could hear pop, r & b, heavy metal, rock and rap all on one single station back then.

Lessons in Love - that dude is a seriously good bass player ... here's the thing - the 80's had some killer musicians -- unfortunately, they were in some questionable bands w/stupid songs, tons of reverb, and cheesy lyrics -- and then on top of that, they had to "act" on music videos -- a brand new concept in the 80's ... suddenly you couldn't be ugly, good musicians anymore -- like the 70's had a ton of ... LOL looking back at all of it, it was just a decade of experimentation -- some of it worked, some of it failed miserably ... i remember thinking, LORD NO - ZZ TOP - keyboards??!!! anyway - wild times ... the cut-out bins were SLAMMED TO THE MAX with chitty music ...

in some ways, i feel like we've come back full circle -- with auto-tune & studio magic on most of today's pop music ... rarely do i hear stuff on the radio that catches my attention, from a sheer musicianship standpoint ...

i miss the days where what you heard on the recording was truly made & performed by the artists -- like the following -- and she was the BACK-UP musician in the band Heart!!!
