Yep, the dial is off. Probably work it around until it cuts off. I should have mentioned, nothing is stripped (at least on the outside) and turning it around and around doesn’t always do anything to the heat output.

Open the top and see if you can swap the bad burners rotary knob with one that works correctly. If the problem goes away, then it is the knob.

Yep, the dial is off. Probably work it around until it cuts off. I should have mentioned, nothing is stripped (at least on the outside) and turning it around and around doesn’t always do anything to the heat output. I have one that has to be kicked over to about 11 or 10 o'clock for it to turn off. That's just my situation.

I have an island cooktop, glass top like that. One eye will periodically decide to switch to high and stay there. It will also fail to turn off. If I rotate the knob to off, then to low and back to off it turns off. Scares the living heck out of me. I'll be replacing with a gas cooktop in the near future.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
