Yesterday I was at the cash register in a store. A lady with a little boy was in front of me. As she was checking out the kid brought her one of those permanent bags you buy and reuse. Well she told him no and to put it back. At this point, he started howling about her not caring about the world and how old people are destroying the environment.
He was clearly the product of a leftist agenda. I know those plastic shopping bags have been outlawed is several states, but remind me again why the biodegradable "PAPER" bags were abandoned. It was the tree huggers that started that. The sea wasn't full of old paper bags, but the plastic ones don't biodegrade. The old ways are not always the worse. If you look at the stats there are more trees in America now than ever before. These campaigns are always agenda-driven. Follow the money.

Paper containers and Glass bottles do not pollute the environment like plastic does. If the Republicans would get on a "clean-up the plastic agenda" and push for more paper and glass they could co-opt this entire weird Global Warming agenda the Dem's are in control of.

Yep. Take that card away from them.

The left is unhinged and completely wrong on this category, as they are on many others.

The problem is litter, not plastics. Reusable shopping bags are more environmentally friendly, if you use them at least 36 times. They are designed for about 20 uses, so they never break even with single use bags, And every plastic bag that gets reused for any purpose makes the reusable bags even less friendly.

The Pacific garbage patch that they constantly hype is more than 97% Asian in origin, and is mostly made up of discarded commercial fishing nets. If the US stopped all plastics use, it wouldn't make a difference, and plastic straws are about .025% of all US plastics use.

Perch, libtards are nuts. It's worse than you think. There is a small city in my neck of the woods called Weston that is putting on the ballot an ordinance to outlaw all plastic and paper single use shopping bags and plastic straws just like the whackadoodles in California. I couldn't believe it. It's weinerman's district but I never thought they go so far as to outlaw shopping bags. Absolutely nuts what this world is coming to. mad

You live in Broward County what did you expect. I live in St. Lucie and it just a matter of time before that garbage starts here. We are getting a lot of folk from Broward moving here along with all of the New Yorkers and the like. We are probably going to put the house up for sale and move back to Alabama.

Some stores still have paper bags, but you have to request them. Huck, you bring up a great point. If we committed to everything the left is demanding, and America had pristine water and air. Nothing would change in 80% of the world. Americans can't control the condition of air quality and the ocean outside our boundaries. The left needs to grasp reality instead of pie in the sky.

It's not money, they truly believe this stuff. I would say it's actually the opposite (haven't you noticed ALL liberal speech is against "big" this or that, against rich people, against powerful people and corporations, it's why all the "Rainbow People" jobless fruit loops out there are liberals). In a way it's elitism, not in a smart/academics kinda way, but rather in a moral way. So if you believe we were created by God, in His image, then you'll believe we still maintain this inner pull towards "justice". Tons and tons and tons of sociologist have shown over and over that the main characteristic of liberals is the same characteristic that mothers have for children (I think the word is empathy), but in the social & political arena it comes across as "they know more and better, and if you'd just quit being hateful we'd all love each other and get along." They fight "bullying" like a mother would for her child, this is why they are against your "hateful speech" and corporate greed and so on. Dirty Republicans are clearly for "big corporate", and big corporate is hurtful to the environment, and THAT is why they say the stupid horse chit about plastic and straws and unicorns and happily ever after. You actually fall right into their verbal trap when you say it's about money....after all, you're an evil conservative who can only think about money. It's moral authoritarianism. It's never about money with them, just the opposite (because remember money can only be attained through theft. That's the main bullet point of anti-colonialism.

I remember the first coke I drank in a plastic bottle. It tasted horrible after drinking them out of a glass bottle all of your young life. Back then everything was in a glass bottle or a jar. Probably why I will buy a Snapple drink occasionally. Reminds me of back then.

I also remember when Brockway glass closed down in Chisholm back in the seventies. Daddy said it was because of everything being in plastic and someday almost everything would be.

the counter.

It all has to do with this throw away world we live in. It is all about dollars. Paper sacks are expensive compared to plastic. Most things aren't repairable today. Just buy another one from china ,It's cheaper.
