Well I bought a 30 ft deck over gooseneck trailer back in may so the length really isn't an issue for the type tractors I'm looking at. When yall say that there's some power lost when going with the HST how much horsepower is actually being lost?

My dad and I have both a gear tractor and hydrostatic. Both work well for their applications. Buy what you want, but if you get a hydrostatic get them to install a cruise control.

10-4 I figured it couldn't be very much but wasn't sure since I talked with a friend of mine yesterday and when I mentioned getting a HST tractor he told me that was a big mistake due to the horsepower I'd be losing and didnt really have anything to go off of other than what he told me. dead_eye if I'm not mistaken the MX series with HST comes with cruise but I think that on some of the smaller tractors you are right they do not come standard with cruise control and it has to be added if wanted. It is definently a tough decision for sure because I really like the m6060 with all of the features ,how everything is layed out, the stance of it and that it looks to be built very well. On the other hand I like that the MX5200 is a little less money, brand new and can fit in more places.

Fitting in more places is a misconception. Get the biggest machine you can afford.

I turned under about a 1/4 acre (at most) plot the other day with a 150hp tractor with duals. In the middle of pines that need to be thinned. Tight doesn't describe. The good news is..... I think I was done in 10 minutes.

And it was a geared machine too slap

Holy ALDeer!

IF I ever have to buy another tractor in this life I can assure you that it will have a cab just as my Kubota L3430 HST does. Regardless of HP or type of drivetrain, a cab with AC is priceless!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Iam a big fan of hst. but finish mowers will eat up power and overheat an hst, if the grass is low no problem, but a little tall and it sucks alot of power.

I had a MX5100 HST. It is about the biggest Kubota you can trailer with an 1/2 ton truck. It was a great tractor, plenty of power, strong loader, ran it for 8+ hours routinely and never had issues bush hogging/disking. IF you have to trailer the tractor, get it. If you don’t I would go with the bigger tractor. I went down to a 35hp tractor (compact) and use the exact implements, bush hog and disk and zero regrets. BUT, if I lived on my land and this was my full time tractor... I’d go bigger fore sure.

Heck ya!! I’ve been known to use a 375hp John Deere with a 35’ disc to work some plots. Makes quick work of it.

Trailering it really isn't a problem but will have to be done regardless of what I get since I have 60 acres at one location and 80 at another.

Scrape, why is it that a finish mower will overheat the HST and eat up power?

If you get gear, get shuttle shift. It’s a game changer.

If you have a diesel 3/4 or 1 ton truck and a 10k or bigger trailer you're fine with the M6060 or M7060. If you have a half ton or gas 3/4 with a 10k or 7k trailer the MX5200 will be all that truck-trailer combo wants.

According to specs provided by Kubota the HST uses up 1.5 hp (vs a DT) on a tractor that is 54.7 gross hp at the engine.

The transmission would make my decision. If you want an HST get the MX5200. If you want a shuttle shift, get the M6060-7060. The MX non HST is NOT a shuttle shift and the M tractor only has one style of transmission available. No wrong choice here.

I haven't put much time in the seat of a tractor, but our Mahindra 6110 has an AC cab and I wouldn't want it any different. It was nice yesterday. I drove our Backhoe yesterday and the AC isn't working...I really need to find time to fix it.

Ive overheated a 35hp hst running a bushog hard, but my 23hp really hates to run a belly mower hard, shaft drive going to gearing to spin three blades 200mph min. just takes alot of power, then the hydrostatic waste 20% of your power off the top.

Our 23 HP has never moved the heat hand with the belly mower, whether clearing or mowing, including a few 9 hour days.

2400 RPM, easing along as fast as I can when mowing. Heat hand moves until the regular point, then is stable.
