Yeah like a free trip to jail on the spot. And a raped tow bill charge.

Same old story. They just want to take your money.

Agree, but as long as they've been around, you'd think it would have already happened...if they're truly illegal.

They are or have been challenged around the state. Phenix city is one place i believe, I don’t know how that turned out.

Opelika praised them when they put them in several years ago but all of a sudden they took them out. Almost over night. So somethings fishy about the whole thing because they were making a killing off if them.

Ha! Brantley has that capability? Every city is buying in to that money making scheme. Its unconstitutional.

Let me get this straight, some of you feel that you shouldn't have to pay the ticket for the violation that you are guilty of because an officer didnt hand deliver it to you at the time of the violation? If it is legal for the city to ticket you for the violation and you were actually speeding, then you are just being a whiny a##. Pay the ticket and move on. And as far as it being "ethical", is it ethical for an officer to give someone a pass because they did the officer a favor? For example, some kid who found the officer stuck in the sand while accompanied by someone other than his wife gets to disregard the speed limit because he pulled the officer out and didnt call the officers wife while the same officer writes you a ticket every time you go through his radar ten miles over the limit.

I don't know ^^^...what happened to due process and innocent until proven guilty? Anybody or anything can take a pic of a vehicle...don't necessarily mean you were speeding and definitely don't prove YOU were driving. You go ahead and pay that fee. I'll just avoid that crappy little town like i avoid dicks sporting goods and target.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

You dont have to pay it. You can fight it just like any other ticket
. I aint saying pay it if you ain't guilty, what I am saying is why protest it if you ARE guilty. Just drive the speed limit or pay up if you get caught speeding. I will NEVER pay a ticket without fighting it if I ain't guilty and do not expect anyone else to, either. On the other hand, I never protested one where I was guilty and I have paid a bunch of them. Just man up if you are guilty, whether caught by officer or camera, pay the fine and move on.

Nope the cities are making very little compared to what the private company is making, unless the city installs and maintains them on their own and I don't think any of the cities are doing this. Plus, when they are declared illegal, the cities are going to be stuck refunding the money and when they look to the private company to refund the lion's share since they are the ones making the money, they are going to hear a big "whoops, we are bankrupt, sorry."

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I spoke to the lady at the company who issues the ticket. She said you can name another driver if you respond to the certified letter you get in the mail. I never got a certified letter so I cant say Bham Fred at this point. I asked what happens if I dont pay it and she said it's a fine of $25 the first time you dont reply, 2nd time another fine and then if you have not replied they turn it into a collection agency.

Interesting, I cant imagine a collection agency making much off a $150 collection

Just logged in and saw the video and photos that is really cool technology that they can get such a clear image. The 2 people that were passing me at the time hopefully got tickets as well. I was only doing 46 in a 35 evidently, I figured I would have been 50+

They can’t turn it in to collection. I’m just about positive of that from the research I did.

Check the statute, I think you have to be going 12mph or over
*correction the statute says 10 over

I got one in Fairfield back in 2015. It irritated the crap outta me. It was raining. Id agree it was my vehicle but who knows who was driving because you couldnt see. I called the city hall of Fairfield as was directed to an office in Tucson Arizona (same as was on the citation) for any info. I Google and found that they were only legal in Montgomery and in Tuscaloosa in the State of Alabama (àt the time). I debated over it for a week and decided not to pay it. They sent me 3 additional Past Due notices but then they stopped and that was it. No collections or putting it on my credit report. I'm glad I didn't pay it.

What I got out of it was it's a quick and easy money maker for the city. The company that owns the camera handle everything and give the city a small cut out of what they receive. They are cashing in on people that get it and just pay it without questioning anything. IF it would have been an Alabama address I likely would have payed it.
