Before everyones EDC got washed away in the flood, what was your ideal round count for your preferences. With the way the world is going my preferences are starting to lean more to a higher round count with a back up magazine in the 9 mm range vs the 7+1 in the 45 acp. What say you?

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

Best thing to tote is self awareness. That bad feeling in your gut listen to it. Shoot the 9 better than the .45? Tote the 9. Man who had seen action in Nam told me a man could never be too rich have too much good whiskey too much love of a good woman too many friends or too many loaded spare magazines. Pete was 5'10 177 lbs soaking wet but toted that KA-Bar knife a Government model with 6 spare magazines on his person. We loaded and shot 1050 rounds a month,Pete said targets that stayed still were easier than those running ones in Southeast Asia.

Only hits count.

I will only carry in my front pocket. Carried a 40 cal. Glock 27 like that for years
till I went to a SW642 or a Ruger LCP. I do feel a little undergunned sometimes
but that LCP sure does carry good.

ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings like 260 said. And I switched from a Glock 43 to a Sig P365 for the higher round count.

And Pete sounds like a frickin genius. 👍

I like the way Pete armed himself but I only carry 4 mags.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Lord I hope I’m never in a situation I need 45-50 rounds to remove myself from a situation. If you make the first one count you usually won’t need the other 44. wink

My thought is , if I get killed it wont be because I ran out of ammo.

I think you need more than one option. The reason I say that is if you don't carry all the time and start making excuses not to wear your gun because it is too heavy or you can't conceal it, etc. Then whatever gun you have laying back at your house is no good to you.

So, I think everyone needs a pocket pistol. Something to carry to the Country Club so to speak. Not your preferred weapon in a shootout but something easy to carry so you don't make excuses.

And then everyone needs something to carry if they think they might have to use it, i.e. if you are in downtown Birmingham late at night, etc.

I am not worried about round count. If you fire 15 rounds you are either 1) going to be a hero or maybe more likely 2) going to prison.

I am not going to be a hero and get into a shootout with a pistol. Don't bring a pistol to a gun fight. That's not a good idea if you value your life. Not sure I would engage a mass shooter toting a rifle, AR, etc. with a sidearm, I'll be honest. My wife and kids need me more than I need to be a hero. My hero days are over.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Always wondered why Glock/Sig etc. doesn't offer a .22 mag or .32/.380 version of the 320/17/19 family. True less power but easier to shoot. The purpose of shooting is hitting,I'm no Bill Jordan(the border patrolman) or Elmer Keith(who killed a mule deer@600 yards with a 4inch .44 mag) but I think distance favors the trained shootists.

Only hits count.

I only carry 5 rounds, typically.
I'm not planning to sustain a firefight with a sidearm. My sidearm is getting me out of the fight. I'm not ashamed to say that I am not Dirty Harry. I'm leaving the fight and (depending on situation) I may return with a long gun, but I'm leaving with my sidearm.

It's still hard for me to get away from the Glock 36 even after nearly 20 years of carrying it and a half dozen others. It's about the size and capacity of an officers 1911 which has been a great standard in CCW for many years except that it's lighter and likely more reliable.
