Don’t know, but it’s been that way forever. Wish they’d do away with it so people could hunt when it not hotter-n-hell.

It’s somehow linked with beer sales I’m sure.

I thought that it started at noon, so that people didn't shoot them coming off roost.

It’s was noon on all opening weekends here for as long as I could remember. A few years ago the LDWF did away with that. Now it’s 30mins before sunrise till sunset.

It's done that way so you won't get cold.
Gonna be warm by noon.

Starting Sunday, you can shoot them starting 30 minutes before sunrise. What’s the difference in Saturday and Sunday?

At Swan Creek WMA dove hours are noon to sunset all season. I don’t know for sure but suspect a lot of public land has the same rule. Kinda sucks this time of the year when it’s so hot, a morning hunt would be really nice

What a great idea for the DCNR! They could charge $5.99 for the privilege to shoot opening day before noon.

The season starts at noon every year due to tradition. No joke.

Years ago family would cook a big lunch then hit the fields. So our law is dictated from that tradition.

And if there was a young fella around 7 years old, he'd have to buy it too. Even if his Papa bought one slap

Several years in the mid 70's limit was 18 in Jackson Co.

IMO Jake is absolutely right. Dove shoots used to be a big social event and some still are. A lot of food and fellowship. The shooting is fun but what used to make a dove shoot was all the other stuff that went with it. Sadly, there are not too many of those shoots still around.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

My son drove down to the club Saturday morning. I had a small spot fixed up and we had a blast.
Didn’t get out there till 3:30 and had our limit by 5:30. I hope when I’m dead and gone he will have
Great memories to pass on to his son. Dove hunting with my dad are some of the best recollections
From my childhood.
