Sorry for the lack of pictures. I haven't had service in forever.
Food scene out here isn't all that great deep in the mountains.

Started on the Crystal River around noon. Rain and wind. But...I finally caught a trophy size rainbow, bigger than my net that I never got the freaking fish in before it threw the hook...was barely hooked. I technically did touch it....so I'm calling it instant catch and release. NO PICTURE so you'll have to believe my fish story.

Then went by Frying Pan Anglers fly shop, got tips to supposedly help a southern boy fish a gold medal trout river. Great tips but I couldn't catch a cold. I had big arse browns and bows within 20 feet of me rising and eating...then a few brownies were exploding on something. I thew every fly I had, dry and wet, heck I even put on a bass popper. Nothing. I only saw one other angler catch anything.
I'm going after them again tomorrow morning.

Pretty scenery. Whenever I go west of the Mississippi and see the scenery, Some of it is like you are on a totally different planet than the lush rolling hills of Alabama.

Final picture update. I suck as a wild mountain trout fisherman. But it was a great trip and a little R&R was long overdue. Hard to beat sitting on a boulder in a gorgeous stream---or driving through majestic scenery and getting out to enjoy God's glorious creation and just relaxing.

We received a call Tuesday night as I was driving back that one of the Outward Bound participants with my son had to be air lifted out from the back country. But report was Samuel was doing great. I don't know how many update reports we may get, but it would be nice to get one each week. We'll see. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes.

And of course, after several days of mediocre food, I found a pretty good BBQ place for some Memphis style ribs in Idaho Springs, CO....run by a guy who spent a lot of time living in the Southeast. Was pretty good...all you can eat ribs & sides for $16.00. They lost money on me. grin

Total Driving record. Long trip.

Sounds like a fun trip. I would have no idea of how to catch those trout either.
