I was in a club years ago (27) and we had a member who was the self proclaimed best hunter in the group. If you hunted a spot more than once he would mess it up. We decided to stage an area just for him. We had 2 rub lines & scrape lines intersecting. We went so far as to climb a tree a couple of time to make the sight legit. The last weekend of the season he got up early to be first to sign out and the spot we created is what he chose. 5:45 that afternoon we hear his 7 mag sound off. He comes into camp asking for help tracking a monster buck. We were more than happy to oblige. We get there and after a 45 minute track we found he had indeed shot the biggest buck any of us had seen. It was a 10 pointer that scored in the low 150's. No more trickery after that. He didn't get back in the club the next year. He figured he had shot the biggest there and there weren't any more. Such is life.

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

I know for a fact I've been garholed many times, I kind of just figured that's part of hunting with "friends".

Ironically, the first time I knew it was happening, I texted the guy I was hunting with and I moved spots, and killed my first deer.

If I was in clubs like this I’d quit hunting.

Messing with someone's scope deliberately is a really good way to get your azz whooped.

That's why I hunt with actual friends. We help each other, and are happy when the other guy kills a nice deer. We will absolutely pick on each other, but there is no push to get in front of each other. It's always a friendly discussion about who hunts where. And when they come to my place, I either sit with them (with me NOT hunting), or put them where I think they have the best chance to see a nice buck.

1. I wouldn’t invite anyone to hunt with me just put them in a spot that I wouldn’t hunt myself.

2. This is why I don’t hunt anyone else’s spot or their recommended spots.

I hunt with friends also. We usually have arguments over who has to pick their stand FIRST. Every one wants the other(s) to get where they feel like they will have a successful hunt. We wind up spending an hour going back and forth, "No, you pick first then I'll work around you!"
Then, if one of us kills a buck, it turns into, "I've already killed one this year, I'll pick my stand last."

No kidding. That is about as bad as you can get. Really sad to see the worst in people brought out by a deer but I saw it in every club I was ever in.

Went on a dog hunt one time about 7:30 everyone else started hunting at daylight. I walked about 100 yards down wood line shot a nice buck. Next time got gar holed. Usually the dog owner generally will try to get the best spot, so most times you are being gar holed seen it happen a lot.
Sometimes the gar hole spot may be the spot if no one has hunted it before or fished it out. Generally, best to know before you go. Most people don't want a visitor stepping on the club and shooting the big buck, so probably a 90% chance they will set you up on the big doe trail instead of the big buck trail.

Too much with very little to show cause most dog hunters shot everything including bambi.

Last dog hunt I went on was far from being gar holed.
