Cracks me up how excited the weather channel folks get about death and destruction.

They just want news. death and destruction makes for news. "Nice woman who helps poor children get an education" is not news. 3000 dead from a violent storm is news.

This will be terrible if it doesn't turn. It's really starting to worry me.

One of our local TVweatherman from WPBF in West Palm Beach said that he guarantees that the storm will turn north Before it hits the coast. We are now under a Hurricane warning.

Meteorologist and guarantee never go together.

It amazes me that they can predict the turn the way they can as far out as they can.

It will turn, and it will not cross Florida. It may end up raking the Atlantic Coast which would cause a terrible amount of destruction. Let's hope it turns before that.

After seeing firsthand what Michael did last year there won’t be anything standing in the Bahamas.

My Grandad was one of the few that survived that storm. Their homestead was less than a mile from the south end of the lake, and if hadn’t been for a construction barge inside the locks at South bay they wouldn’t have survived. Everything they had or knew was washed away, and he had nightmares about it the rest of his life.

Just watch the radar. It’s not turning according to their predicted path. It might start any second but it hasn’t until now.

Another great video from Tidbits: Around the 11min (or so) mark he explains this, that I never considered. Winds blow in different directions at different altitudes (we all knew this). Typically the stronger the hurricane the "taller" the storm. The strength of the storm has impact on the steering currents that it encounters. In this case, a weaker/shorter storm my see more winds that push it to the west and therefore if it weakens it may make landfall in FL.
