Wife and I taking a little Labor Day weekend trip and staying at the Battle House. Gonna catch the games tomorrow at the hotel bar. Any suggestions on some good eats down that way?

Dumbwaiter and Noja. Both are probably the best eats in Mobile, and are within walking distance from the Battlehouse.

If you want something within walking distance from the hotel and on the nicer side, try The Dumbwaiter. Four blocks from the Battle House. Make a reservation. Shrimp and Grits with CONECUH sausage.

Also Noble South for eats, Serda's for coffee, Dauphin's restaurant at the top of the Trustmark Building is REALLY good but $$$, also Chuck's Fish is a good place to eat

Dauphin's has never failed us. Great view and food. It is a special occasion restaurant for us.

The food there has been ok the few times we have went there. I have never had anything at Dolphins that has made me want to go back, but it does have a great atmosphere!

Heroes Sports Bar on Dauphin St is just a few blocks from Dumbwaiter and most of the other mentioned ones. Great place to watch a ball game but it will be PACKED for most Bama games. Being Duke and 2:30 kickoff it might not be as bad. LSU game or similar will be SRO.

IF you go, try the Clipper.

Nah. Just a new place for us to try. We like trying a new Renaissance hotel/spa. So far Ross Bridge is our favorite. Went to muscle shoals last year. Was gonna try The Grand on the bay but just wasn’t gonna pay close to $500 a night.

The Battle House spa is first class, as is the hotel itself. Chuck's Fish House on Dauphin is a great place to eat and has the best sushi in town, in my opinion..

I don't get the whole Boudreaux fascination.

Some great suggestions so far- I will add The Royal Scam on Royal St close to where you are staying. If venturing up Dauphin St then I would add Five Bar and El Papi- do not go to Wintzells. I’ve not been but Southern National is award winning.

Thanks y’all!! Will check some of them out! My main plan for most of the weekend is to park my butt on a lounge chair at the pool, drink, read a book, and have some tunes in my ear! Then, head over to the bar early and lay claim to a table with a good view of the TV!

That would be one of my most miserable weekends ever!
But if that rocks your boat, I hope you have a great time. 👍

I really enjoyed the Fillet Mignon I had at The Royal Scam last time I was there. They do a really good job on their steaks. One of the best Fillets I have had at a restaurant.

I also really enjoyed the Bacon Cheese Burger at The Haberdasher last time I was there. I know, you're saying, "Bacon Cheese Burger Irishguy, Seriously?" Yes it is good. There are several things that are special about it, but it's good. Plus the drinks there are nice. Live a little and get one of their specialty cocktails. Nice bar with eats.

There are a few dishes that I really like over at Boudreaux's:

The Crawfish Cakes
The Shrimp and Grit Cakes
The Chicken Plaquemine with Vodka sauce
The Wagu Sirloin (Cooking a sirloin is difficult fo get right and they do a fantastic job.)

Plus there service is really good there and they always have live music, plus they have a nice deck where you and the missus can see the sunset.

Felix's is also good and has good service.

Bluegill's on the Causeway will make a turd..

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I eat downtown 5 days a week for lunch.

Wintzells downtown is damn fine especially if you like fire grilled oysters and would be my evening choice if you want to stay in downtown Mobile and like semi casual. On the causeway, Original Oyster House has my favorite food. Bluegill food is just OK, but has the best at atmosphere with live music.

Mamas on Dauphin street or Heroes or the new Squid Ink is a good lunch spot.
