The best I've gotten in mine is low 19's from Tuscaloosa to the beach and back - but that's a relatively flat drive and running 60-65 most of the way. On the interstate around here, maybe mid-16's and 14.5ish around town in stop & go traffic.....but, mine's leveled, on 33's and has the optional lower gearing.

Mine's still stock.

I’ve never been one to be overly concerned about gas mileage in a truck. Twelve to Sixteen mpg is fine with me as long as it tows it, hauls it, stops it and respond very well when I put my foot in it. It’s a damn truck not mini car. Personally I like leather seats with air conditioning and satellite radio.

I’ve had every engine there is for 3/4 and 1 tons in a Ford, Chevy and Dodge in the past thirty years. I traded every two years when I was in the construction business. I’ve pulled a many of trailers and hauled plenty of loads and having said that you will regret going to small motor for fuel economy. You will feel it in every aspect of the truck and even if you go to a larger than stock tires some day.

1)Must be able to pay cash for it
2) least amount of miles if deciding between two
3) Less electronics the better.
4) Never a diesel unless I am towing regularly.

About the best value out there is the F150 XL STX 4x4. Just enough amenities, and I think the grill looks better than the XLTs, Lariats, etc.

Why is it okay financially to lease land for years that you will never own and not a good investment to finance a new truck? Why deplete cash on hand when you can get a low finance rate and spend less than a thousand dollars in a five year loan. Seems to be the thought of the majority of the members here. I’ve done both and have no regrets.

The newer fords are nice, and so are the gmc. The tundras get horrible gas mileage but will be the most reiable setup you'll find. Out of gmc or ford, I'd go ford with the 5.0. I have not had a chance to drive one of the brand new gmcs but like anything else they are products of mass production. You'll either get a good one or have some issues with either brand. Toyota Tundra hasn't changed much at all powertrain wise except a new transmission I think since 2007. That's probably why they are more consistent.

I'm drivin' a 2015 Ram 2500 Diesel 4x4 with 115,000 miles on it with no issues other than tire wear on the rear when pulling a heavy trailer. My backup is a Restored '76 F-250 Highboy!!

Im glad you have had good luck with your truck but I am 100% anti-Dodge, or basically anything that has the Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat, Ram or any other name they want to put on their Junk.
I have nothing against a diesel, just don't see myself using one for what they are intended for. yes they make great power, can haul a house if needed, can get awesome MPGs but I just don't feel that it would suit my needs.

Because the majority of people (I would guess 85%) don’t have cash on hand and don’t invest what they would have spent on a bulk cash payment for a vehicle. They’re making payments and living paycheck to paycheck.

I have been a GM Man since I started driving. I really like the GMCs. my last truck was an 06 F150and I liked everything about that truck except for the engine. it was weak got terrible fuel economy and was a ticking time bomb from all accounts.
Ive never owned or even drove a Tundra. Ive heard excellent reports on them and about the only complaint I have heard is they are thirsty. I really like the interiors of them and the Toyota reliability.

Im a diehard chevy man. I had my last one for 8 years and sold it last Friday with 315k miles on it. The front differential had went out. That was the only major thing that had ever happened other than I had to put 3 wheel bearings on it and an alternator. I went to harbins and bought a 2017 model. I looked at new ones but I'm not real crazy over the new body style. Theyve came a long ways since they made my last truck.
