Do you anticipate the new baiting laws affecting the amount of corn planted next year and was the law passed early enough to generate more corn planted this year? What I'm asking is there an anticipation of this really having an affect on local farming to outweigh cotton and beans? I certainly hope it will benefit farmers, how much, may have to be a wait and see if there is actually more of a demand than previous years.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

No. Maybe in areas south but we have to stick with a fairly strict rotation up here not a farmer I got will intend his plantings based on deer corn.

If every single licensed hunter in Alabama (180,000) bought 20 sacks of corn, it would be less than 10% of the annual state corn production. Not seeing any affect other than some fancy new marketing schemes. I can see the rural country stores making a few extra bucks š
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

Thanks guys, I really didn't know how much corn we produce in Alabama and how much baiting is expected to affect it. I was just curious when I went by a cornfield on Hwy 80 today.

Just to expound. AL is a corn deficient state. Meaning we barge in most of our corn for the poultry, beef feed industry. I got grainireis up here offering premiums which they will come pickup at their expense to keep mills running. So in short answer my guys arenāt stopping much to mess with deer hunters.

Amazing what you learn on Aldeer. I never would have guessed that we don't grow enough corn for our own purposes. It would have seemed to me that this would have led to more production in our own state, but since they can't grow cotton in Iowa, I guess we have to grow what brings the best profit for us.

Where can one get the best price and how would you set up to store bulk corn? Plastic drums?

Drums that have a sealed lid will sweat on the inside whether they're metal or plastic. Corn stored that way needs to be used pretty quickly or the moisture will cause the corn to swell, mildew and mold. Storing with the lid off and with the drum in a dry place is best.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

May be put burlap or something like that over the barrel and secure for season storage?? Just an idea. Most of the barrels I have gotten either leak or sweat and cause problems. Drill holes in the tops to breathe??
Don't blame me for your bad decision-

the feed store near me is already seeing a big increase in corn sales over last year. I think the corn sales to hunters will be 3-4X what sales were last year.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I can see the rural country stores making a few extra bucks š To give you guys an idea of the volume of corn used daily, If every hunter in AL did what you wrote, that would only be enough corn to supply the two chicken feed mills In Guntersville, the Wayne and Pilgrims mills, with 26 days worth of corn.
