WOW, what a citizen.

He is a pillar of virtue. If I remember correctly he even spikes the tires of the cutting crew if they are cutting his lease during deer season.

Sales is often an employed job and you absolutely could be hurt financially with missing commission/bonus.

I believe an employed mechanic is another instance of someone that could be harmed with missing flagged hours. A good mechanic flags more hours than 40 in a week.

So raise your hand and tell the court that you’re going to be pissed off the entire time because you don’t feel it’s your duty to sit on a jury

I must have been lucky because as a juror I have found the trials interesting if not entertaining. Just being in court, not on a jury, is quite interesting to me...as long as I'm the one on trial.

I would say most “public defenders” and prosecutors start out in the neighborhood of 35-40k$

Most of them work there for 4-5 years and then their loans are forgiven.

This is my predicament. This is the fifth time i will be going to court on this case. Have yet to be asked a single question. I am not trying to get out of my duty, I just want to miss Monday and gladly sit in court the rest of the week if needed.

I wouldn’t think they would need you the first day

Most lawyers will tell you when they need you to be there. It is very rarely the first day and if it is, it will be after lunch.

Pretty much a douche move to subpoena you and not communicate a time. Who is the lawyer who subpoenaed you? You can find their email from Alabar.org.

All subpoenas say that because it is the beginning of the trial. But, the lawyer should communicate with you and let you know when he will really need you. Honestly, if I was you, I would leave them a message (a phone number should be on the subpoena), leave your number and ask them to call you when you are needed.

I have called her directly 3 times and emailed. Whitney Aboko-Zole is the attorney

I mean leave a message. Tell them that you are not coming on Monday morning, that you know you will not be needed Monday morning because they have to pick a jury. Leave your number, tell them to call you when they need you and you will come to court. Ask for an hour advance notice or however long you think it would take you to get there. Then, don’t go on Monday and wait for their call.

Are you getting subpoenaed for jury duty or to appear as a witness in a case? Sounds like the latter. They are not the same.
