I doubt that you could buy one for that now.

They were the cat's pajamas in the day. That was a lot of money back then too. They were fine boats for that era.
Back then I'd rake or cut a 2 acre yard for $15 to $20.

Hell, that old ad is worth what some of those boats sold fro back then.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I was looking at a 16' cedar point special a couple of weeks ago. Needed some wood work, but was ready for the water with a 40hp Johnson.

$2,500 was the asking price.

I sold a 15 1/2 ft Stauter, last year, that I bought new in ‘79. It sold for more than I paid for it new. If I had all the fish & shrimp that were put in that boat, I’d need quite a few more freezers

Damn you were getting high dollar. In the late 70s I didn’t get that. Cut grass till I puked for $10 a day.

Dad owned one. Probably bought it not too long after 1961 when I was born. Learned to ski behind it at Lake Shelby. Only had a 20 HP Merc if I recall correctly. Course fished out of it as well and was our (including our walker hounds) transport to the hunting club up the Tensaw River from Live Oak landing. Remember taking it to see the Ghost Fleet as well. Good times indeed...

Hurricane Frederic took out that business. I've always hoped someone would come along and start building these boats again.

Stauter boat works has been right down the road from us for years (believe they're fixing to shut down retire) don't reckon they've been building boats though?

They mainly do repairs. I think they stopped building body's because they can't be competitive with fiberglass/aluminum prices anymore.

I don't think they have built boats much since they relocated to out off Three Notch road. Mainly sell trailer parts last time I was in there.

I called them a few years back because I wanted a brand new cedar point special. They wouldn't even quote it.

Claimed it would be so expensive there was no way I'd consider it.
