I'm 52 and selling my business next year. I should be debt free with only utilities and health care due each month. I'll also have to pay yearly insurance and property tax. I'm too young to sit on my fanny, so I need a new career. I would like for it to be Mon-Fri no evenings and I do not want to deal with the general public or be responsible for any employee's. I've dealt with them for the last 25 years and I've had enough of them both. Basically, I'm sick of the drama they both bring, especially the uncertainty of employee's. I've got some idea's but maybe some of you have something I hadn't thought of.

Transportation engineer. Aka school bus driver. Have a freind who retired 30 years in telecommunications started bus duty. Loves it. No weekends and holidays off. I've heard the benefits for the job are where it's really at. If you have good group of kids I could see it being a pretty good gig, exclusively hellions, not enough tea in China.

I'm mostly living on my pension. But occasionally I hire out to make somebody disappear.

Why don't you buy a Subway or two? Indians own all them!

I'm told there are LOTS of contracted (bid) jobs all over the panhandle at the different military bases. They pay for a lot of different things that they don't want to do themselves. I have no idea where to start looking for the info. Good luck.
Alternatively, buy, fix and flip distressed property in the FWB/Destin area. Bond enforcement? (how big a boy R ya?)
Find a need and you'll find a revenue stream. Heard about a guy down here in Orange Beach. Started a business rolling trash cans to the road early am on pickup day and rolling them back in the evenings for out of town condo and house owners who don't trust their renters or property management companies to have done so. He charges like $22 per month per house. His expenses? He has a cell phone and a BICYCLE. If he has 500 clients that's $11k per month and $132,000 per year. Genius if you ask me. That's smart! Wish I had thought of it!

If he doesn't want to be around people, how would driving a school bus full of loud kids who will ignore him 10 times a week be good? Geez. It may have nice benefits but they're kids on a bus, not to mention the responsibility and 30'leven zillion idots on the road.
Figure out what condo owners need but don't have or can't easily get, especially if they're absentee owners, and provide that service. They would need you. If they're bitches, sever the contract.
As RobertD said, find the need and fill that void.
