I'm gonna replace, instead of rebuilding, the carb on my 06 Rancher. The Chinese carbs sure are tempting at $50 and less while the OEM is $150 and up. What say the guys on here that have replaced carbs on ATVs?

Why not just rebuild Wiley? Buy the carb kit and hell, I’ll rebuild it for you.

I bought one of the Chinese carbs for a Honda dirt bike. I never could get it adjusted correctly and ended up scrapping it and buying an OEM carb that was not problem.

I put a new OEM carb on the Big Bear. Never even considered the Chinese.

I may rebuild it. Either way it would have to come off so there is that. My fear is that I may not have screwdrivers small enough to get the smallest parts out that are down in passages. I have jewelers screwdrivers but if there's dis-similar metal corrosion between the aluminum and brass I know I won't be able to get those out.

Yea you will. Take the vacuum baffle out and all plastic parts. Go to autozone and buy a 1 gallon paint can of berryman’s carburetor cleaner that is made to soak the carb. Drop it in and let it soak for about 45 minutes, just be careful cause that stuff will eat up plastic parts. Once you soak it, then start taking out the jets. That should eat the corrosion up and you’ll be able to get the jets out pretty easy. Clean all passageways, blow out with compressed air. Then wash with warm water and blow with compressed air again. It should run fine after that.

Was talking about the this today.

I’ve put the Chinese carbs on a push mower, stihl trimmer and 05’ rancher and no probs with any.

Is worth the gamble for me. Only out a few bucks if no good.

Just rebuild it. The Chinese carbs ive used come with the wrong jets to begin with and don’t run right at all.

I’ve got a 1997 Big Bear and the Chinese card carb on eBay was $65. Works like a charm.

I put an OEM on my 2002 Rancher about 4 years ago. Cranks and runs better than it did when it was brand new. I wouldn’t trust the Chinese junk. Got it online from somewhere in Mississippi for around $170 or so. Came in a kit that had a new fuel line, in line fuel filter and everything for an oil change. Went to replace the petcock valve and one of the brass fittings that is molded into the fuel take broke loose. Tried JB Weld and everything else on it and couldn’t get anything to hold. So I had to get a new fuel tank. That was $300 online. Couldn’t find a used one at the time and that’s the cheapest I could find. Got it from Patzilla.

Good info here. I work on lot atvs. Aftermarket carbs are usually pretty good . One more step to rebuilding stock carb. After removing all plastic parts, jets, oring s or anything that will melt. Boil the carb in water for bout hr. Will clean out inside passages that carb cleaner won’t get to. Yamaha makes a great carb cleaner soak.

Buy the OEM. I just bought a Chinese carb for the riding mower. Came with no paperwork. Had to adjust several times.

I bought one from Amazon. No adjusting, just bolt on and go.

Guy put one on my honda 4 wheeler and couldn't get it adjusted right. Kept fouling plugs. The needle valve didn't have enough adjustment on it.

Wiley I bought one for my 03 foreman and didn't even have to adjust it. for $40 + or - I'd take the chance. Glad your feeling better.
