will I buy a Kenmore appliance again. A newer dishwasher that had to have two service calls while still under warranty Since they have to come from Birmingham to do the service (they don't tell you this when you buy it), they wait a month or two until they have a day's worth of service calls in Selma to send somebody. Since then there have been a couple more issues that I fixed myself. Now with this latest one, I don't know where to start since I suspect it is in the motherboard. It's been nothing but trouble since day one. The local, independent Sears dealer is owned by a good family, but once it is out the door, they can't help. I hate it for them because when they opened it, Kenmore and Craftsman were decent products. Now they are relegated to selling crap.

Back to handwashing then my little saltwater aquarium crashed so I've got to get it cleaned before the smell starts.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Thanks, but I'm going to go with a local dealer that will stand behind what he sells like I should've done from the start.

During all this a stinking Pakistani called me about something. I'll have to ask The Lord to forgive me, which I know he will, for the cursing I gave that woman before she even had a chance to say what the scam was going to be.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Another bad thing is sometimes fixing a product yourself will void the warranty since it wasn’t done by a their “certified tech”

Do your research on the model and find out what brand it actually is. My understanding is a lot of Kenmore appliances are actually "big brands" like GE, Frigidaire, etc. Find who made your Kenmore and stay away from that brand. We have a bosch that I can run in the next room with no doors closed while watching a movie and can't hear it at all. Dishes come out really clean and it works much better than an old GE I had in the old house. Only caveat is it's on the small side, so some of my larger cups don't fit well.

Good luck, appliances suck

I have always bought my alliances from Boothe Appliance in Sylacauga. No matter what brand you buy, they all eventually give out. Boothe has always gotten here in a day or two and taken care of the problem, and that is worth way more to me than saving a few dollars on initial purchase from a box store.

We had to buy a new refrigerator last year. The previous one lasted 25 years. They laughed when they brought out the new one and told me there was no way on Earth I would get 25 years out of this one.

Older appliances, like automobiles, were built to last and simple to work on. That is not the case anymore. It is all built to be disposable.

I buy all mine at Lowe's and pay extra for the five year warranty. That way they are guaranteed to work five years, plus one day.

Yep, we have an upright freezer that my parents gave me, I remember when we bought it in 1986. The only time it has been off is when I moved it to our house from my parents, a great appliance that my wife can’t hardly wait to get rid of...... I guess because it works great........ SMDH

Same here. When we bought our house, I told the wife she could do what she wanted as long as the appliances came from Boothe. Find you a good local dealer.

weve been updating the kitchen cabinets in our properties and installing new refrigerators and stoves every refrigerator weve pulled out is mid 80s model GE still works fine. now the only service calls we get are for the brand new GE models. 30+ year old units ran without a hiccup now a 30 day old unit is already needing defrost timers and fan motors.

Whirlpool refrigerator was among the top-rated by Consumer Reports. I pulled the trigger 8 years ago and have not had one single problem. We replaced a GE that lasted a whopping 7 years.

I was just about to suggest.... Never, ever buy a GE product. They have been total garbage since the late 90s.

let me throw my $.02 in here. we moved here last year, long story but we left / got rid of some appliances for the move. if you folks haven't shopped at SADCO in Montgomery (right off 80 after you get off 65) they have the best prices. they sell Crosley, and some other brands too, but we got Crosley stuff - Fridge, dishwasher, clothes dryer. Hands down the best prices and warranty. plus, we got 2 of the catnapper recliners for the same price 3 other furniture stores wanted for 1 of them. I highly recommend these guys from personal experience.

I used to own an appliance store. My suppliers told me for the past 10-12 years their target is a 7 yr life span on all major appliances.

Buy the simplest, cheapest you can buy. If theyre gonna make them disposable then so be it.
