I have feeders set up under the old “law” I.e. 100 yards away and out of sight. I think that worked great on our place. Put a large feeder between the two main fields and never hunted close to it and it seemed to increase deer sightings in the whole area. It would be pain in the az to move 600lb capacity feeders by myself. What are y’all s strategy for feeder placement? Anybody gonna leave them where thy are?

Just bought a feeder the other day. Haven't figured out where I'm putting it but you can bet it will be in plain sight of a tree stand somewhere.

Georgia legalized feeders last summer, just before I bought mine. I put it near the woodline, about 2/3 of the way down the field.

Place feeder near trail. Put stand 30 yds to south. Another 30 yds to north.

In view, but further out would be my choice. Deer walks out 200+ yards and is not nervous because they’re not close to a house and your wind will be even better. Funny thing is most people will move the feeder to about 50 yards and get busted more times than they’ll ever know.

I have run them year round the last few years. Our property is split into two 100ish acre sections. I just did one feeder per property and put them somewhere that was extremely easy to get to in my truck so i can fill them with minimal disturbance. I have had deer follow my truck to the feeder and they use them year round day and night. I had terrible luck trying to walk all through the woods to a feeder where i though a bigger buck would magically appear. I think minimal disturbance is probably as important as anything and if you are going to hunt it then stay away until conditions are absolutely perfect and just hunt it 2-3 times a year or you will ruin it. I have had the biggest bucks ive ever had on camera in 10+ years using these feeders during day time hours on a regular basis.

Think I'm just going attach mine to the shooting house frames and put windows in the floor.

Seriously, I'd place mine inside a wooded area and watch trailers to and from. I don't want them to associate the feeder and danger. They will only start using it at night.

Don't forget Georgia and South Carolina. Apparently, only Alabama deer go nocturnal at the appearance of a feeder.

My feeder is out in the food plot, 10-15 yards from the woodline. I get pics at all hours of the day and night.

I personally passed 7 different bucks on my place last season during daylight hours.

Deer will find a feeder wherever you place it. If you're hunting bucks of any maturity, IMHO, you're largely wasting your time hunting over a feeder. Not saying you'll never see a big buck at a feeder in daylight, but not highly likely. We use feeders to feed. Always have. Not to hunt over, and I won't now that it's legal. I will, however, use corn on the ground to stop deer where I'd like them to stop for a shot in thick stuff. IMO and from experience hunting over corn in other states, this is the best use of the new law on baiting. JMHO, YMMV. .

There are exceptions to every rule. Hunting pressure in the area is the primary factor. If you got plenty of land that is not hard pressured, then yeah, you'll see deer and bucks on feeders during the day. I use cameras at our feeders to check what bucks we have. With few exceptions, the mature bucks quit hitting the feeders during daylight once the human activity in the woods increases in Oct/Nov. .
