I’ve heard of at least 6 men 55 and under in the last few months having heart attacks and some are aldeer members. Guys please make sure no matter your age to have this checked. Remember you don’t have to have any symptoms for this to happen. I didn’t

I am thinking that the medical establishment should recommend a full nuclear stress test for men at a certain age, certainly by age 50, same as they recommend a colonoscopy at age 50.

Just had my EKG and stress test a few months ago.
Good to go @ 53.
And just spent several days hiking up to 7K feet in MT.
Blessed. Glory be to God.

50 might be too late, my dad passed at 48 due to one... no signs or symptoms.

I had the nuclear stress test done back in January due to my family history. Everything checked out ok.

My dad was 60 and passed his stress test with flying colors the week before having 6 bypasses......
Calcium scoring(not typically covered by insurance)can show plaque build up and was beneficial to me and my MD.

If your BMI is >25, your just fooling yourself if you don’t think you are a cardiac candidate for next in line.

A guy that graduated high school a year after me died in his sleep from one. He would have been around 52 or 53. Not over weight, none smoker. And as far as I know about a drinker

I always questioned the BMI. I’m 5’7 and weigh 170 and overweight according to the BMI. I would need to loose 10-11lbs to have a BMI of 25. I’d look emaciated but I probably need to do it. Had a heart scan last year and was clean of calcium and all cardiac arteries were open. I have 2 friends who have had bypass surgery as a result of that scan. Both were asymptomatic.

BMI is very very small in the list of check marks
1. Family History
2. Smoker
3. Hyperlipidemia
4. Diabetes
5. High Blood Pressure

If you have a family history........get checked out!!!

Yeah that BMI is BS I'm over weight now (around 258) but at 210 i look like a freaking STARVING ETHIOPIAN ON CRACK. and at 6'1 it says i was still nearly 30ibs over weight 🤪

Yea I agree, and I don't want to be a believer either (I'm 5'10" and 170). I work out 6 days a week, weights and cardio and my doctor says 160 is my ideal weight. I'm sure if your are within 10% it's a lot less of a risk. But usually when your BMI is > 25, you have a tendency to have some a couple of those items you list as a by-product.

BMI is a Crock. Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world
is considered obese by this scale.

No he isn't, according to his published information, he's 6'5" and 207 lbs. That puts him in the "normal" BMI range. I apologize if I struck a nerve on here, so let me rephrase it. If you are overweight, especially grossly as the BMI formula would indicate for obese, you are at significantly increased odds of developing conditions that are proven to contribute to heart failure along with other illnesses- that is indisputable. Everyone that is overweight dislikes the BMI measurement including myself. But, I understanding what the formula is accomplishing along with the exceptions to it for you extreme athletes smile
