George Garvin’s Old Forester in a big styrofoam cup with a splash of water for me. I like Buffalo Trace too, don’t get me wrong, but that Old Forester brings back a lot of good memories.

That’s my mixing bourbon. Usually $19.99 for a fifth.

Honestly. Budget and bourbon are two words that ought never be used in one sentence. If you have to buy budget bourbon you should just drink cough syrup.

It's funny how different tastes can be. I bought a bottle of the Jim Beam Rye when it first came out. I think I took about 3 sips before I poured it out. It was like a poor excuse for turpentine. Quite possibly the worst whiskey I have ever drank.

Four Roses is about the best I've found, in its price range. $20ish for a 750ml

But why a 750ML? In volume comes price, 1.75L is the way to go.
I understand that exotic high dollar special run stuff can only be had in 750ML but that's a different game.

This. Some have missed the ‘budget’.

A 1.75L of 86 proof Evan black can be had for $28.

A good budget bourbon that tastes up there with most of the higher ends I’ve tried.

I really like rye whiskey. Bulleit and Knob Creek are my favorites. The Earl of Creedmoor usually brings me back a magnum of Bulleit when he returns to his estate on the West Coast. It’s delightful on the rocks.
