I had a California roll that was quite good. Is that sushi?

Sushi by definition is the rice, not the fish. Has nothing to do with cooked or not fish

I grew up next door to the Hallmarks who are the founders of rock n roll sushi. Should of been a lot nicer to them back then. Hell my Aunt's husband ran off with their mom. Smdh

Funny you say that. There is a restaurant in Jasper called Bayou Fresh. It’s in an actual gas station and they have some of the best sushi I’ve eaten. And I’ve eaten sushi in multiple states, countries and high end restaurants. They make 3 runs per week to the coast for fish and other seafood. They will pick up just about anything you request including mud bugs. We all joke about it but the food is excellent. We’ve even hired the sushi chef for a private party.

This place is legit.

Theys a place in scottsboro that has awesome sushi. I usually go 2 or 3 times a month. I like the spicy tuna and spicy crab best of all the ones I've tried.

I've eaten it and it was ok, but I haven't had any that I would be willing to pay very much for., I guess I haven't tried the right stuff yet...

So, does anyone like Bluefin like they catch on Wicked Tuna???

Never had it but want to try it. No high end sushi restaurants around here to try it. Would like to have a roll of that as a side to some Kobe beef steak

For those of you that say”nope” have you tried it? If you have and don’t like it, so be it. For thkse that haven’t tried it, live a little. Start with a mild fish(tuna and yellowtail). DO NOT get mackerel right out of the gate. It can taste fishy and you will think all sushi/sashimi tastes like that

I agree. Most people I know that "don't like it" haven't tried it. I'll admit I was the same way until I tried it.

Very little bluefin stays stateside and what does isn’t top quality.
The eel, Unagi, is my top pick followed closely by spicy tuna and spicy jack.
I don’t care for fried anything in my rolls. Tempura tastes like pancake batter to me.
I tend to make my own sashimi in house, or on boat, when Ive got fresh yellowfin or dogtooth.
Almaco jack is good for it, too.
