I don't understand a lot of things that go on at auburn, but this might be one of the craziest.

I guess Gus thinks it will buy him some time.

That's probably what Timber was trying to post. I understand why it bothers him but it's definitely needed. I doubt Gus will ever see the inside without a ticket, though.

Thirty years ago we had football-only facilities and dorms, and the pussified presidents and NCAA said they needed to go away to help "student-athletes" become more like regular students.

So they moved in other athletes and students into the football dorms and moved players out of dorms into complexes. OH MY GOSH, THEY ACTED LIKE REGULAR STUDENTS ANYWAY! They still partied, went to class, skipped class, drank, screwed, required monitors and bed checks and everythign else.

And now they want to go back to football-only facilities.

I assumed that was what he was talking about as well, didn’t figure anyone was discussing a stadium

Gus quoted as saying "competing for championships" is laughable. They referenced the projected cost at around $60 million. If AU is serious about wanting to compete for championships, they'd be better off raising that $60 million and buying out Gus's contract which would still leave a nice chunk for a huge signing bonus, which is what it is going to take to be able to go out and hire a real football coach there on the plains.

He skirted the hot water at Iowa State after he used a public plane for private use at least 52 times including damaging it.

Maybe I'm just becoming an old fart, but the millions of dollars being spent to lure kids to play football has become ludicrous. These facilities are glorified frat houses for players, with lounges, big screen tv's and other BS. It's really the wealthy donors who are playing this game of who can buy the best facilities and players, so they can stroke their over inflated egos. We're paying a coach seven million a year and this clown says he needs this facility to build a championship caliber team????

How about doing your Frickin job azzhole and earning your oversized paycheck!!!!

Leath is also spending millions refurbishing the presidents mansion.

Some folks hate his ass.

The facility will be built eventually. Again, the question is whether Gus ever sees it.

I am hopeful, but not optimistic. The PTB seem to have plan B in the works.

Let's be honest and assess the true reality of the situation. AU did not get to that game by competing or dominating anyone. Between the immaculate reception against GA and the kick six against Bama, AU made it to the big dance in 2013 on pure 100% blind ass luck. 999 times out of 1000, the miracle plays do not occur and AU loses both of those games and finishes the season with their typical 3 losses. Being in that championship game was a one in a million occurrence of straight up luck and divine intervention. It's the reality of AU football under Gus. Time to just accept it for what it is. thumbup

When did style points make their way into football? We competed for a championship. period. Even having to compete with you bammers every year, there are a number of teams in the country and even in the SEC that would give their left nuts to be as competitive as AU often is. The bammer infatuation with Malhzan has me puzzled. It is almost as if you are constantly whistling past the graveyard for fear that he might get another QB that fits his offense.

Yep I worked at Sewell Hall while I attended Auburn. It was a great job cause I got to eat before every shift that I worked and let me tell you, the football and basketball players sure do eat some good groceries all 3 meals!!
