Tarpon have started their Summer migration but not in full force yet. I caught one this morning about 70lbs and lost another about the same size. I have pics but someone that is capable of posting pictures will have to pm me their cell number and I will text pics. Still a good 10 or more days before they are in full force.

I'll be down this weekend and might have to catch up with you.

I've never caught a tarpon, but I've always imagined it would be like catching a giant skip jack.

I'm going out of Orange Beach this weekend. Once we catch our limit of Snapper, may need to troll the sandbar a bit and see what happens.

Use swimbaits, spoons, and live bait. I caught another one this morning. Probably 10 hooked up at the same time but I was the only one that kept mine hooked.

In the late 70's I tried to do a skin mount on a tarpon. The meat was very red, oily, and stringy looking. I wouldn't touch it!!lol

I dont guess they call them Tennessee Tarpon for nothing.

When I was 12 my parents dropped me and my best friend off at a pier in pcb (if I remember correct). I was using just a regular old Abu ambassador and ugly stick and hung into a tarpon. The locals said it looked to be about a 90lber. I kept it on for about 20 seconds before he bent the hook and got away, but not before he jumped a couple times back to back. As a kid that was quite an experience.
