At least six Americans thus far that stayed in 4 different hotels. All seem to have drank from the minibar. Something reported is that the bottles are full sized, not typical minis like here. One official also stated the bottles appear to have been refilled. How could anyone be foolish enough to drink or consume anything they didn't break the seal on? Thoughts?????

You drink something you didn't break the seal on every time you get a mixed drink at a bar. That being said, this has to be some cleaning person or something poisoning these on purpose.

Going into a bar is different. Drinking from an unsealed bottle in a minibar is no different than drinking from one found on the street. Not many of us would do that.

Agreed, especially in a foreign place. Unless it comes out my refrigerator or my parents fridge I ain't drinking nothing unless it's sealed or I saw it opened and see others drinking from it (like kids birthday party, etc.) Too many crazy things could happen.

No, its time for Americans to stop traveling outside the continental US. Stopping the tourist trade would sink that chithole. When will Americans see how we are hated around the world?

recently got back from a Jamaica resort and they delivered the in-room bottle requests (full sized) with pour spouts already on them (cheap vodka and rum)...no we didn't drink from them, since the tiki bar was just a few steps away and had premium liquors (supposedly)...we never saw them crack the seal on a fresh bottle.
wasn't the liquor you had to be wary of, there, it's Bob the Baker. Some of our crew tried his goods last time there (dirty brownie) and got pretty sick and hung over for a day. one of the ladies that used to work in a dr office did a drug panel when she got back and still had traces of pcp in her system (she said she was talking with George Jetson at one point during the episode).

Wife and I honeymooned there. We met a lot of French people while we were there. Apparently there is a direct flight from Paris to Punta Cana. All I can say is they can haveeeee it. I won’t be back.

Perch, I’m gonna disagree with you on that one. There’s no reason why we can’t and shouldn’t travel outside the US with a little caution and consideration. The world has lots of things to see, and some things that we as Americans need to see to know just how good we have it. We loved honeymooning to the Dominican. We actually went to a resort in the same chain as this one. Gotta be some intentional foul play involved. Could be pesticide related as some have suggested, but most likely not unless they changed pesticides recently.

Until the US can open all inclusives that run the same price as the international ones, I’ll keep leaving the country.

Jeeze, my sister in law and her new husband (my good buddy) are honeymooning down there right now.

That's crazy. When my wife and I honeymooned in Jamaica we had in-room bottles (full size) completely sealed. Never once were we offered a bottle in room that was already opened. Although they did have much better stuff at the bar which we went to for most drinks. Even their cheap rum is better than our cheap rum here most the time.

There are too many things to see in our great country to take a chance on a disgruntled employee or a MUSLIM killing you!

Has there been toxicology done one the victims? What chemicals are being used to kill them?

They said it takes several weeks to get a tox report. The guy that died last year should have one, or its been covered up.

This is a weird thing going on. This follows up on the american woman who was attacked and beaten and left for dead down there in January at one of the resorts. Are these intentional? Are they accidental. They appear to be random, nothing is stolen. It doesn't seem to follow any pattern.

I have traveled outside the US many times. There is no reason not to do so, you just have to not be stupid. The world is a beautiful place and I am not going to just sit here and never go see it. Yes, the US is beautiful too. But, that is like saying Alabama is nice, so I'm never going to go to any other state.

Agree with SBS and Doekiller about traveling.

Global traveling is the most fun someone can do.

The problem is with certain countries.
Obviously, anything south of the USA is suspect and risky.
So is most anywhere in Africa and almost all Muslim countries.

But if you went to Europe, Japan, China, Honk Kong, and a100 other countries not so much risk.
