I was quoted a price per square ft this evening to frame a house for me, I’m wondering if it’s in line. I’m not building anything huge or fancy, no cut up roofline, and around 2,400 sq ft. I was quoted $4.00 sq ft on the framing, is this pretty good? Thanks, Robinhedd

Yeah, that's a good price, IF they can build it square and brace it right.

I take it that includes material? I have no experience with that so I don’t know.

That is not a bad price..... I pay between $3.50 and $4.50 per house depending on roof pitch, cut up roof line, and type of cornice. That price always includes windows and doors installed.

I paid $3500 to have my (basically) 960sf cabin framed (blacked in) and I furnished materials. But that was a hell of a deal because they got a project cancelled on them and needed work for 2 weeks. So that was less than $4 a square foot but again it was a special deal.

So $4 a square foot is a hell of a deal. You should jump on that if they guys can frame level and square. If they can't it's going to be hell to finish it off and you will be cussing them for the remainder of the project.

My friends always charged 8 a ft. Plus doubled building supply costs for labor charged. That was the general rule of thumb. If it cost 2k in supplies then labor would be 4k.

4.00 is a fair price for a standard floor plan. He would probably charge extra for cathedral ceilings, turtleback ceilings, dormers, etc

Hech ya. Im here to talk. Thats what this place is for right? To talk. Its funny though. The ones who live on here to be jerks, run most folks off. So in reality, they are shooting themselves in the foot. Why live on this site if your just gonna be a jerk. It makes folks not want to post, in which makes for a boring forum. Me, i could care less. I speak the truth. I know the trolls think im a liar. Do you think i care? Cause i keep posting mt opinion and my life occurrences. I could care less what a stranger thinks about me. Its all funny.

Very good for Huntsville.
