They classified Roundup as a "possible carcinogen" with absolutely no evidence to support their decision. Basically giving European lawyers a free hand to extort the chemical companies. Obviously it didn't take long for our own bottom feeders to pick up and run the same idea.

I'm spraying a 73% glysophate mixture, on several different properties.
If the wind is blowing, I'll practically bathe in the stuff. Sometimes I'm elbow deep in a tank full of Roundup. If it causes cancer, I'm screwed.

So, what's your opinion about adding imazapyr to glysophate? Very effective? Not a good idea? Just a gimmick? I've thought about buying Renegade, and if it controls broadleaf as well, I might gave to try it.

That’s not true.

Glyphosate is a class 2A carcinogen per the IARC, meaning probably carcinogenic to humans. This is based on limited evidence of cancer in humans and sufficient evidence in animals.

The EPA has classified it as not carcinogenic, but that was 40 years ago and they’re re-evaluating it.

There are no occupational exposure limits for glyphosate, so that shows that OSHA, NIOSH, and ACGIH aren’t too concerned with it.

Just wear gloves and don’t get it all over your skin and you’ll be fine.

There’s not a thing wrong at all adding imazapyr to gly. All I’m referring to is it being advertised as “my roundup works faster deader crowd”. Just got to understand it’s not just gly in there

Place called Scruggs here in Tupelo. They have cheap chemicals and fertilizer and sell a bunch of it to small timers as well as real farmers.

Surprised scruggs deals with montesano...or vice versa...ain't they the ones that was battling them over the use of trademarked seed?

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

So where do I get this Renegade?? I got some kudzu I’m fighting. Cornerstone and Strike 3 mixture did well on it last year but I’m willing to try something new. It’s back this year and it’s angry! Ive fooled around and tried precision attacks on it but I’m now implementing a scorched earth policy in any kudzu areas

Glyphosate is generic now. Several companies make it now, as I understand it. And yes, they were the ones that settled with Monsanto.

I want to see the Renegade label. I can’t find anything under that name other than a surfactant or crop oil.

How do you figure? There’s no RR vegetable seed.

Is corn not a vegetable?

Ok well first off yellow field corn isn’t in stores. Most sweet corn these days is RR/BT. I seriously doubt he was only talking about sweet corn. Other than that no there’s no RR vegetables

I was actually talking about corn and soy based products but i figured by now they had round up ready everything else too. At least beans.

Yeah cmon. Daniel White

There are a lot of details, but I’ll try and cut to the chase.
IARC is an agency within the WHO that conducts and coordinates research into the causes of cancer. In addition, they assess the “hazard” of products...is harm POSSIBLE”. The EPA, who assesses “risk” (is harm LIKELY), disagrees with IARC. On April 30 of this year, they reaffirmed that gly doesn’t cause cancer. Many regulatory agencies in other countries agree with the EPA. Now, back to IARC. Because they are assessing risk, the majority of substances they’ve looked are indeed classified as probably carcinogenic. To put it into perspective, they have reviewed almost 1000 substances in over 40 years of work. Do you know how many they DIDN’T find to probably cause cancer? Uno. One.

Outback, I have not seen any case where mixing gly and imazapyr was an issue. It all depends on what you are trying to do. Kill cogongrass? Many people mix the two. Spraying underneath your fenceline? Probably would leave the imazapyr out.

If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.
