I realize that this may get locked but I want to express my feelings in a short statement to shed a different light that u may not of thought of. When something bad happens and someone survives don't say God was on your side. I've known countless people that were God fearing Christians and lived there life like it that have lost husbands, wives and children. Was God on there side? YES he was and is. I just feel bad for the people that have lost kids and immediate family that hears this comment in other situations. Whatever God's plan is will happen it doesn't mean he wasn't on your side. Sometimes God DOES give you more than you can handle. Ask, Job.

Job had a tough time for sure, but he handled it.

And was blessed 10 fold.

God doesn't put more on our shoulders than we can handle.

Not only that, but God didn't put all of that misery on Job, he only allowed it to happen. That's no different that what Satan can throw at us. God doesn't do it, but he doesn't always stop it either. His ways are not our ways, and we are not to second guess his wisdom.

Can you give me a scripture that backs that up?

Because God didn't put whatever it was on them nor did he force them to make a bad decision to kill themselves. Believe it or not, Satan has much influence in this world.

jb20, I don’t think most people mean much by it when they say that. Just one of those sayings that’s been around and people just repeat it. But I get what your saying and I think it’s a good point.

God can and will ALLOW you to carry too much. It's usually when you can't take on anymore. He's trying to show you the way. YOU have to ask for God's guidance and lay it down. That's from my own experience. If there ever was a sinner, I sure am one. I'm not always right and God reminds me.

Doesn't it hurt to see your kid fall or get banged up after you told them something? But you dont catch them, as bad as you want to, because you hope they'll learn to listen. You hope that they understand you are wiser, and see a better path for them???

People have too much faith in themselves, men especially. Whether you believe it’s God or another force causing things to happen in your life you’re only going to make it through it by surrendering to God and getting your strength from him.

No it doesn't. That verse is dealing specifically withTemptation. Our trials, tribulations and burdens can be something all together different.

I think we endure things, because we have no choice but to endure them. I don't try to understand God's thinking behind why we have to endure things, I just try to understand my own thinking behind it. Either I made a bad decision and I need to do better next time, or someone around me made a bad decision and needs to do better next time, or it's some random situation that happened and I need to show my character in how I deal with it.

A few years ago when my oldest son died at only 30 years old from liver failure, I had to go to that hospital everyday and watch him die and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. It was bad. Did I lean on God for understanding? Yes I did. However I had no choice in the matter as to whether or not I had to endure it. I just did what needed to be done.

We as humans are put here to love other people and to endure both the good and the bad of life. We have free will and choices to make in how we live our lives and treat other people, but sometimes we are placed in situations that for all practical purposes are beyond our control and how we deal with those situations defines our character.
